Trying on some Warby Parkers

My glasses broke the other day .. and my back-up pair is also sort of broke. It was time to get new glasses. Like you I’m sure, I have friends that rave about the Warby Parker experience, so I decided to give it a whirl! If you don’t already know how it works, you pick out 5 frames, they mail them to you for free to try on, then depending on what you like, you send back the frames at no cost to you, order the winning pair (or pairs) through their website and upload your prescription! You can even use an FSA account to pay! I went ahead and picked out 5 to try on (without realizing a couple were pretty similar), as well as a couple outside my comfort zone that were funky and different. In order above, I tried the Casey, Louise, Barnett, Keene, and lastly, the Finch! Right now I’m leaning towards the Finch, or Louise.  What do you think??? Help!

Cher Joy

Cher Joy

Hi friends. Happy spring to you! The orange blossoms are blooming here in AZ and every where you go you can smell them. I love it. It’s been a fairly hot Spring for us, mid-90’s. Thought I’d give this little here blog of mine some attention. I don’t get on as much as I’d like, but definitely want to keep documenting. The days go so fast, and I want to remember the best parts of them. It’s been a chill weekend for us, as you can tell from my nap picture above ;) I’ve got Nicki Bluhm on shuffle, snacking on Roasted tomatillo salsa and chips and am about to start some cleaning. Hope you’re all having a good March and let’s do this again next weekend! Here’s what brought me joy this past week, in case you’re interested.

1. Orchids from my man. He had some making up to do ;) But so pretty and sweet all the same.

We picked radishes, grazed on cauliflower, snap peas, celery, mint and carrots .. pulled out flowered veggies, composted and then carried in cartons of vegetables to St. Vincent’s kitchen for meals for families to pick up later. Such a beautiful morning .. best way to start the week. Would KILL to have a garden of my own like this. So awesome. And yes, that’s the I-10 right next to it. Crazy to see that kind of soil just south of the airport.

3. A friend gave Jace this puppy stuffed animal when we lost our little Lucy (still not ready to talk about that), and he likes to take it everywhere, it’s particularly his pal while we drive. He hugs him so tight and says “my pappy”! It’s the cutest thing. I love listening to Jace word chatter. He’s so close to saying words fully, and putting sentences together.

4. My boys yesterday at the Chandler BBQ Festival. Rob loves that he can put Jace up on his shoulders now without the scare of him falling back. Jace has always been solid, he just has better balance now; Rob just hangs on to his ankles. Had such a blast . . . !

Cabo San Lucas – Part II: Lover’s Cove and Friends

The rest of our trip to Cabo was made up of eating food (a lot of it!), drinking a lot of Dos Equis and Pina coladas, and sleeping. Most nights we were in bed by 10:00 p.m., hahaha. Spending all that time with Rob, alone, was so wonderful. It took us a good day to let go and stop thinking we had to get back by a certain time to relieve the babysitter. We kept grabbing and looking for Jace, but then we’d realize again, “Oh, it’s just us on this vacation!!” Every day was open for whatever. This was actually the first vacation in a long time that I hadn’t planned one thing for us to do. We were actually going to do nothing but relax. Fortunately for me, the other Cheryl (my lively and loud friend from Hollister, California) had a lot planned, including dinners together and a boat tour to Lover’s Cove.

Cabo San Lucas – Part I: Riu Sante Fe and The Office

Rob and I just got back from a little couples trip to Cabo and it’s one we’ll never forget. Just take a look at that view! This was our first time to Mexico, and we were super impressed! The flight was under 2 hours (one of the quickest flights ever, really!), the airport was easy and fast, they had bars right outside to greet you with a Margarita or Dos Equis, the transfer shuttle was fast and friendly. Everything was just great. And February was truly the best time of year to go. The temperature was perfect, with ocean in the air. The sun just strong enough. If you can’t already tell, it was the nicest little getaway for us. Leaving Jace for 5 days was hard, but we knew he was in good hands with family, and were able to let ourselves relax. Especially when we met up with our friends and got poolside. Vacations away together are so important. To reconnect and get back to us. And sleep in ;). We stayed at the Riu Sante Fe, which had the most beautiful view of the arches. It sort of felt like we were on a cruise ship, on land. All-you-can-eat, all the time, with entertainment, dance clubs, spas, pools and bars, around every corner, but without the swaying of a ship. Downside .. (because I like to evaluate our purchases!), no room service, hard beds, and no coffee maker in the room. Everything else? Pretty awesome! My stomach is having some major withdrawals though, it wanted to wake up to a breakfast buffet like it did for 4 days. I’ve been so hungry since getting back!

Gilbert

Family pics in Gilbert

We went downtown last weekend to snap a few pictures for our holiday card. It was pretty tricky. Jace didn’t smile or face forward half the time. And when he did he looked like a thug. In others he was staring at the planes flying over above, pointing at Grandpa trying to get his attention forward, or wrapping his face in his blankie. Should make for an interesting holiday card this year. Be on the look out friends!
