Happy November friends! I can’t believe we’re already into the 2nd week of November. Weeks are flying. I’m 28 weeks today {7 months!}. Pregnancy is still so bizarre to me. To feel his little movements and see his little form when I look at my belly. It’s so surreal. This past week was a challenging one for me. There are a lot of projects to get done this month at work and I’m feeling the pressure. With the time change here in the Cruz, it gets dark right after 5p so days seem shorter, and more tiring for some reason. More is on my mind than ever. I’m using this month to get caught up on car repairs and yard work, while trying to wind down more in the evenings. I know this time of year is busy for everyone, but all of sudden I have a million things on my to-do list. Rob helps me bring things into check though when I’m feeling overwhelmed and emotional. He’s very much my savior during the week — combined with root beer floats, episodes of Revenge {or BATB!} or early morning walks with the dogs. Thank you Rob ;) Here’s what brought me joy last week:

1. My friend, Michelle, got me the sweetest little night light for Baby J’s nursery. LOVE IT.
2. We started our child birthing class this week. My new favorite night of the week!
3. Baby shower invitations came in {more on that later!}
4. Breakfast in bed on Saturday with my love. Orange juice, oatmeal and pineapple – yum.

Have a great week! Hope it’s beautiful where you are.

Baby J, Pregnancy

Our date night for the next 6 weeks

We started our mindful child birthing class this week, and I’m already in a better place, mentally, about giving birth. The class is centered around stress-reduction and mindfulness. We all gather on pillows and mats on the floor at Luma Yoga & Family Center {a beautiful studio}, lead by Roxanne Cummings. It’s exactly what I pictured when I thought of a birthing class. But better. We even meditate. I’m taking in every ounce of information. The book we’re all reading together is called Every Day Blessings {which I’m adding to the other 8 books I’m reading simultaneously right now}. Homework involves practicing mindful thinking and reading. I could definitely benefit from some more mindfulness. All of a sudden I’m overly sensitive about everything and anything, so I need mindfulness now more than ever. I’ll try to snap some pictures while we’re in class. There are 13 other expecting parents — all with their own unique stories and birth plans. We’re heading into the last trimester now and I expect to grow a lot in the next couple of months. Ah!

Did you take a child birthing class when you were expecting your first?

Pregnancy, Santa Cruz

Bocci date in Santa Cruz

I felt like doing something fun this past weekend. Something that either involved ping-pong, ice hockey, darts or corn hole. So we settled on Bocci’s Cellar in Santa Cruz. Great patio and bar — with two bocci ball courts & lots of fun things to do!

I did really good — look how close I got! I’m proud to say that I beat Rob by 4 points. Woot woot.

Not only is Bocci’s Cellar great for a day or night outing, but their menu is delicious. I ordered the pastrami jack, it melts in your mouth. This little date was JUST what I needed this weekend!

beach house, Halloween

Coastal pumpkins

Are you guys ready for Halloween? We officially are. When I saw these pumpkins from Coastal Living, I immediately downloaded their carving templates. We only had enough energy to do 2, but we were still pretty proud. They’re not perfect, but they sure to do set the stage. We’ll be passing out candy and staying in this Halloween. Maybe have a fire, and watch the Conjuring {if I can work up the courage to watch it!}.
