12 days of our Christmas

Wow! What a blur these holidays were! And so much I don’t want to forget. Thought I’d do a little Christmas recap, in the theme of 12 days or “things” I want to remember, starting with a little project Jace and me did one afternoon over the break. We made elf hats! And Mr. Jace insisted on wearing it for the week straight, even on the strolls to the market, he wore it. Such a cutie that one. We did so many art projects this holiday. Our house was decorated with cotton ball Santa beards, snowflakes and home-made ornaments.

My little streaker

IMG_3315 IMG_3316 IMG_3317Yesterday we spent some time at one of our favorite parks down by Papago, and got pretty sweaty. When we got home we brought out the lawn sprinkler for Jace and to our surprise, he got quickly undressed (we convinced him to keep his undies on) and started running circles around our front yard. No fear that one. I can’t believe how tall and lengthy he’s getting. Love him so much. And his little ninja turtle undies:)

Happy Sunday ya’ll!

Just waiting around

IMG_3278 Oh heyyyy. Cheryl here. Just waiting around for this baby to come out. I’m 39 weeks, come on baby! What have I been doing to kill the time you ask?? .. Aside from STILL working, just doing everything I can to induce labor at home, hahahaha. Including grueling games of ping pong, long walks on the canal (until I have to turn around and go home and pee!) and pulling weeds and cleaning up our yard. Also, I’m eating a lot food (like Matt’s Big Breakfast, OMG!) and going to bed early with Jace. He insists on wearing his glasses like Momma. My body is feeling pretty wacky at this point. I know something’s building, because I’m starting to swell in places.  I just wish I knew WHEN it would happen. The suspense is killing me. And so is my back. I’m going to try doing some lunges next, some spicy food .. anything at this point.

Home is the best R&R

IMG_3129I’ve been going non-stop lately it feels like.  I actually don’t even plan a lot on the weekends (or during the week for that matter, unless it revolves around food), but with Rob’s schedule and the rush of wanting to get stuff done around the house before baby comes, I think I just needed a day. So I took one the other week and stayed home with Jace. Creating life an’t easy. And this time around I’ve encountered some new things. Like sharp pains in my sides and below the belly, cramping, hip pain (it’s almost like my hips feel bruised!) and some weird back end issues that shouldn’t be happening because I’m actually drinking a ton of water this time (what!?). It’s so hard to be my happy self when things start to weigh down on me, literally. We had our hospital tour recently, too, which just makes me wish it was April 4th already so I could be in there, getting it done! But at the end of the day, when I watch Jace run around the house in his blankie superman cape, or ask me if my butt still hurts, or when Rob runs me a epsom salt bath and puts the heated blanket over my belly, all is well in the world again. I’m so dang lucky to have this little family of mine and for the every day moments of life. I can’t express how wonderful it feels to be in our home together, just hanging out, just us. It’s really been my sanctuary during this pregnancy. I absolutely crave it when I’m not here. Something about a Nespresso in the morning, reading a book in bed while it rains (just finished Still Alice – heart breaking!), hanging in our front room on our $40 couch from Goodwill, cutting fresh roses from our bushes, or cuddling up to watch Annie (Jace loves it, ha), is where my zen is. The best kind of R&R for my changing body. Well, thanks for listening. I’ll just be here stretching more to get this baby grown .. and opening the windows so I can smell the orange blossoms that are already out! ;)

My view lately

IMG_2748Hi friends. How are you? Me .. I woke up at 4:30a this morning, mind racing. Mostly about all my projects at work that are really lagging and the fact that I have less than 10 weeks to get everything wrapped up and handed off. But outside of work, my view lately has been pretty great. Starting with that Arizona sky lately! It’s been raining on and off for over a week now, with sunny and cloudy afternoons, which makes for great baseball playing outside in our backyard.
