Food, Friends, Moss Landing

To eat in Moss Landing: Phil’s Fish Market

After a couple hours of kayaking on Sunday, we stayed in Moss Landing and ate at Phil’s Fish Market. It’s this little market on the harbor, just steps away from a gorgeous stretch of beach. We ordered shrimp, calamari and their famous {and raved about on the Food Network} Cioppino. It was the perfect dish for Fall – full of hot clams, scallops, mussels, crab, halibut and calamari.

On our way out we took a slice of their carrot cake to go. What a great day!

Moss Landing, weekend

Kayaking @ Elkhorn Slough

Sunday we spent the day in Moss Landing; some new friends of ours joined us for kayaking at Elkhorn Slough. It was a beautiful day! The sea otters were my favorite. Too bad you can’t keep them for pets. They’re about the cutest little things you’ll ever see. The snoring seals reminded me so much of my Lucy;). Every adventure like this reminds me that I was meant to live by the water. It’s so relaxing.

We had so much with Michelle & David! :)

Are these October days flying as fast for you as they are for me? I can’t believe the month is already nearing to an end. Hope you all had a good week last week and if you were a boss, hope you were spoiled. We’re heading out this morning to go kayaking with some new friends. I hope to see some cute otters. Until next time, here are my moments of joy from last week:

1. Cuddles with Rudy.
2. My October birchbox.
3. Boss’ Day with my Boss, Kathy. By the tears I’d say she was surprised.
4. The sailor striped Baggu Duck Bag is back! And I have one {yay}.

Lately

October in central cal

This Indian summer we’re having is pretty heavenly. The smell of a California Fall is exactly what I thought it’d be. The days are warm and makes for the perfect tanning weather. Our “hidden beach” is our home away from home lately. We pack a lunch, pop a squat Pretty Woman style and take in the rays and sound of ocean waves.

We recently discovered a family of bats in our neighborhood. And let me tell you — they’re spooooky! Maybe it’s that time of year – the witching hours? I run for my life when they come swarming down. Lucy needs to pick it up! Even in the middle of the night we hear the owls {love!}. I don’t mind waking up at 2 a.m. to listen to them; one in particular likes to sit in the tree outside our window. I smell Halloween in the air and already marked two things off my list. Because our master bedroom fireplace can’t support big fires {only those duraflame logs}, I decided to use that space in another way. I think I need more pumpkins. And candles. It’s a start! By the way, if you’re looking for a good scent for the Fall, you MUST stop in to Pier 1 Imports for the Autumn Leaves scent. It’s delicious and makes you want to cozy up with a glass of red and a book, or listen to Duffy and start cooking. Strange how a scent can do that, right? ;)

What are you doing to get in the spirit of Halloween? What are you dressing up as??
Tacoma

My direwolf

We’ve been watching Game of Thrones non-stop and now every time I look at Tacoma, all I see is a direwolf, our little protector.
