I cut some itches off! Gonna rock the short hair for awhile. Don’t think I’ve been this short with my hair since college. Sort of love it.
Right now I know of 10 ladies who are engaged and planning for their wedding. A few I know more closely than others, so I’ve been in engagement gift giving mode, looking for something perfect for each bride. First on my list {trying to stay in order}, my friend Heather. I saw this bottle of wine from Swanson Vineyards up in Rutherford that would have been SO incredibly perfect, seeing that her nick name is “thrill madril”. Sadly, they’re not producing any more of this vintage. So, I stole the theme and put together a box of littles for my newly engaged friend to enjoy. Sort of my wedding version of a birch-box. And all for around $25 {the price for me has to be right, too – knowing I still have to come up with a bridal shower and wedding gift for the couple}. Did I mention I call Heather, “my little Heather”?
These black & white graphic boxes always tug at my heart strings. They’re so cute & clever. And they go with any room decor. So, I picked a lovey one for Heather’s wedding box.
At the Book Shop of Santa Cruz, they have a really fun sales section. I couldn’t resist the mini sparklers and cake-topper. Then I kept shopping around downtown and picked out a Lollia hand creme, a vintage handkerchief for future tears and some sustainable, “love” hair product samples to complete the box. Add the clever insert message and done!
I have more friends to shop for, and need to do it pretty quick so I stay within the “engagement” window, so more engagement gift ideas to come! {Calligraphy on the envelope by Found in the Central Coast}.
Aloha friends ;) I’m at The Abbey, catching up on my blog reading and enjoying a chocolate croissant and mocha. This is the BEST coffee shop in Santa Cruz. They have incredibly comfy couches and chairs, fancy chandeliers, lamps galore, live music during the week and vintage decor. The people here are just so cool and electric. It was nice to get out of the house early today. Feels like we’ve been sleeping ALL weekend. Yesterday we slept ’til noon – it was amazing. And I’m pretty sure I could fall asleep right now in this chair. I’m hoping our 49ers win today!! I’m looking forward to the Super Bowl party we’re going to this afternoon, and hope we can get down to the beach with the pups at some point today. They’ve been a little bored with us this weekend. I’ve been really missing my family lately. Like when I want to go see that scary movie, Mama, I really wish I could go with my sister. Or, when we go to the driving range, I wish my Dad could meet us up so he can see how far I’m hitting the ball. It’s hard not having them at arm’s length sometimes. I wish they’d hurry up and get out here. April can’t come soon enough. Here’s what brought me joy last week (in addition to this wonderful afternoon):
1. Lunch with the ladies from work, and Jardine’s mexican chocolate ice-cream. Me and mexican chocolate have a serious love affair going on.
2. Have I mentioned that we booked our trip to Hawaii? It’s happening!
3. Cuddles with my Lucy.
4. Driving range with Rob and friends. It felt GREAT to hit some balls and smell the freshly cut grass.
Have a nice week friends! Hugs.
I’m so incredibly happy. Moments like this remind me how beautiful and fragile life is. How simple things really are. Every day {literally EVERY day}, I still find myself in disbelief that I’m living in California. That I’m driving on a California freeway, staring at beautiful, green, rolling hills. Then I get to the studio and am surrounded by truly wonderful people, I stare at light-filled, beautiful colored walls and girly accents, feel productive in a creative atmosphere, listen to the roosters and think about Marketing all day {and pleasing others}. To some, this might sound boring, but to me, it pretty much rules. I went into Monterey today for a client meeting, and got to drive along the water with the sunroof open and smell the ocean-air. After the meeting, my boss wanted to sit at an outside patio and talk about branding and logo design. Sitting next to her I actually FEEL her sincerity. And it’s such a beautiful feeling, to work with someone so nice. Something inside me wants to DO better, to BE better. Now I’m home, and that feeling of joy and happiness is still overflowing in my heart. Maybe it’s the fact that I’m going to eat Panda Inn tonight {or watch Beauty & the Beast at 9pm}. Maybe it’s seeing how excited our dogs get when we walk through the door, or the fact that Hawaii is only 104 days away. Whatever brought this rush of happiness on, I’m thankful for it. I’m thankful for this life God has given me and his unconditional LOVE. I’m thankful for the people he’s placed in my life, and for giving me Robby to share it with. I couldn’t have asked for a better person to spend every waking day with. I have so much joy in my heart right now I might cry. But maybe, instead, I’ll go outside and watch the sky change colors as the sun goes down. Seriously. What a beautiful day.
We just booked our trip to Hawaii. . . we’re so excited!! We decided that we couldn’t miss out on the cheesy, Hawaiian experience, so we’re going to Oahu first for the touristy things {and a little more than that I’m sure} and then to Kauai to relax. I’m already getting my itinerary and to-list going. I was expecting to cry when we hit “purchase”, like I did when we bought our tickets to Europe, but I didn’t. Hahaha. Now to start planning my vintage-chic wardrobe! yay.
Are you taking any fun vacations this year? Where to?!
