Moss Landing, weekend

Kayaking @ Elkhorn Slough

Sunday we spent the day in Moss Landing; some new friends of ours joined us for kayaking at Elkhorn Slough. It was a beautiful day! The sea otters were my favorite. Too bad you can’t keep them for pets. They’re about the cutest little things you’ll ever see. The snoring seals reminded me so much of my Lucy;). Every adventure like this reminds me that I was meant to live by the water. It’s so relaxing.

We had so much with Michelle & David! :)
Healdsburg, Sonoma, weekend

I’ll always remember the lavender

The husband and I drove up to Sonoma on Saturday for one last hoorah on the last day of summer, and for my birthday. I planned us an exciting day of wine-tasting in Alexander and Dry Creek Vally and an afternoon in Healdsburg. But the one thing I will always remember about my 29th birthday, other than my husband’s eyes and the 2001 Merlot, is the lavender. Our first winery had a planter full of blooming lavender. Even our mini charcuterie plate had a stem of lavender for garnish. I was in love… I’m a total smell person and now it’s a memory I’ll never forget: the smell of lavender on my 29th birthday, with my best friend.

Half Moon Bay, weekend

Half moon bay & a brewery

Sunday morning we got up early, grabbed coffee and drove to Half Moon Bay to go paddle surfing!

SUP {stand up paddle} surfing is SO MUCH FUN! I didn’t fall {Rob did, he.he.}, but I did put my wet suit on backwards, ha. We all had a good laugh. It was the most beautiful morning and we got to see a few friendly seals. The crew at the Half Moon Bay Kayak Co. were awesome. If I wasn’t worried about getting my camera wet I would have gotten some pics of us in action. It was a blast – I think I’m a SUP surfer for life {once I buy one ;)}. After our work-out on the boards, we went to the Half Moon Bay Brewing Company for a tasting and some lunch. One word – DELICIOUS!

Hope you had a nice weekend! :)

Life, weekend

Weekend of date nights

This past labor day weekend Rob and I spent every minute together. It was glorious. We pet-sit,  chatted over coffee every morning, took long walks, enjoyed our little cottage to ourselves and treated each night as a date night. Don’t you just love date nights? We don’t even have babies yet and I so cherish these nights out together, just us. It’s so nice to give each other our undivided attention, without the TV, or computer, or iPhone pulling us away.

I got a surprise gift from work so we took ourselves out for an Italian feast and movie on Friday. We felt like we were back in Italy again at Cafe Mare. The food was AMAZING.

Saturday was another date night out, spent at the Santa Cruz Mountain Brewery. Rob loved it and we ended up missing dinner because we talked our way almost to closing time. Thank God they had hot pretzels to order.

Sunday afternoon we had a date in San Jose. Every year for my birthday there is one thing I ask for. Shoes. And, I like to stock up:) We made the drive into San Jose to hit up a discount store, seeing that it would be one of the only weekends for us to go, and I picked out some shoes. Thanks for my early birthday gifts, Rob.

Monday we shared our date night with Heather with filet mignon and sauteed fruit over vanilla bean ice-cream. Delicious! {no pics}

Hope you all had fun this weekend – on the lake, in your backyard, watching football, or whatever you did!
