12 days of our Christmas

Wow! What a blur these holidays were! And so much I don’t want to forget. Thought I’d do a little Christmas recap, in the theme of 12 days or “things” I want to remember, starting with a little project Jace and me did one afternoon over the break. We made elf hats! And Mr. Jace insisted on wearing it for the week straight, even on the strolls to the market, he wore it. Such a cutie that one. We did so many art projects this holiday. Our house was decorated with cotton ball Santa beards, snowflakes and home-made ornaments.

Back at the Christmas Tree Farm!

Well, we are jumping right into the holiday season around here. Starting with getting our Christmas tree from none other than our favorite Christmas Tree Farm – Crest Ranch! We wore our layers because when the wind blew, the chill would freeze you to your core! But gosh, what a beautiful day to cut down a Christmas tree and drink hot chocolate. Carting around 2 kids this time around was pretty tricky. Also, random site note, why do I even try to wear the Ergo? Walker just can’t be restrained. He’s a beast that can’t be reckoned with and rather sit in the dirt and touch each speck or twig (or chew on Jace’s trash) >D Anyway, we quickly eyed a tree that was full enough to fill up a corner of our house and after some strong sawing (on Rob’s end) we cut threw a wicked knot and had our tree! It’s a smelly one, too. Jace was more involved with his hot chocolate than finding a tree, but managed to help Rob with some of the action at the end. He’d been looking forward to getting a Christmas tree all week, so of course it was all worth it.  Hope you all are getting excited for the holidays and getting your trees decked out. Our living room is very much a-glow right now and so wonderfully fragrant. This time of year is truly the most magical, with so much to celebrate. More Christmas fun to come (if I can ever get around to documenting it!)

This photo here was right before Jace threw Rob’s coffee on the ground, with no regret and with a smile on his face. Funny how toddlers just do those kinds of things, right? oh-well. We’ve learned to just say “whatever” and move on to the next thing. No use crying over spilled coffee. And Mr. Jace wanted to wear Walker’s little hat and swiftly stole it from him. Go figure. Reminds me of when he wore it as a baby way back. Now my 2nd born is wearing all his hand-me-downs, and it’s so sweet. I just love re-purposing the little sweaters and booties and hats. Brings all kinds of great memories back. Plus, Walker is just delicious right now. I mean, come on! Look at that little drooly face and snotty nose! Ha.

And instead of Rob riding the Christmas tree this year, I decided to make him put it over his head. I’m so thankful he’s game for my crazy photo ideas ;) Also, I totally look 7 months preggo in this pic. Not sure what it is this time, but I’m eating even more food than usual while pregnant. Haha. Oh-well. Growing a human an’t easy!

Our Christmas

What can I say, we had a wonderful Christmas.  I can’t get over how wonderful it was. To celebrate the birth of Jesus, and share his love with others, to open presents from Santa Claus and all that comes with the season, including spending time with family. But now our tree is down, the decorations all put away. It’s time to bring in the New Year. And there is so much to be thankful for. This time of year I’m reminded of how lucky I am to be here and with people to love. Isn’t love the best thing in life? It’s truly a gift. So, to end with that note, here are some of the things that brought me joy this last week: gifts of thoughtfulness that definitely didn’t go unnoticed.

1.A thoughtful surprise from our realtor. He’s truly the best. The oreo truffles were to-die-for!

img_2546 3. A calendar gift that is actually going to benefit someone else (and not just a wall in my house)!  Thanks, Heather ;)

img_2547  4. The luminaries our neighbors picked up for us and set out in front of our house, so we could partake in the neighborhood tradition on Christmas Eve. They are so sweet.

Merry Christmas

I didn’t get around to mailing out Christmas cards this year, so here you go. Merry Christmas from us to you! I’m so freaking excited for 2017. Another baby. More blogging. More life goals to accomplish. More joy to share with those I care about. More adventures. Preschool for Jace face. And maybe a vacation in there somehow?? Hope you all have a lovely holiday. Thanks to those who check this little blog of mine;)

Christmas!

This Christmas, I decided to take a bunch of video so we could really capture the excitement and moments from the day. This Christmas sure did come fast, we didn’t even get to all of our “12 dates of Christmas” … all of a sudden it was Dec. 24th and we were furiously wrapping gifts! But, wow, what an awesome Christmas, even for how exhausting it might have seemed. We got in a ton of family time and laughs, lots of dancing and kissing and eating .. just your average family holiday get together.

I think one of the best parts of our Christmas holiday was playing with Jace and his toys. Since I’ve been an adult now for what feels like forever, I forgot how fun toys are!! So please pardon my little toy recap here, but I was as into the toy playing as mr. Jace was. His favorite gifts included anything Thomas the Train related. Rob got him a little Thomas the Train whistle, Grandpa Randy got him a battery-operated one, and a friend got him a little train track set, and me a little tent for him to play in. And just a sidetone, thank you, Netflix, for having Thomas the Train .. it’s seriously the best show and Jace adamantly requests to watch it now, while he plays with his trains. He goes around saying, “MY choo choo (yes, everything that is “his”, he proudly disclaims as “MINE” in the cutest little boy voice). He also loved this glow-in-the-dark, battery-operated car track my Mom got him. The track is plastic and folds up nicely into a bag, so you can take it anywhere. And the cars are fast! Lastly .. Great Grandma Margie got Jace a teepee for his room. And I tell you, Jace has never been more animated about life until he saw this thing. It was definitely a bad idea to set it up right after bath time, because after rolling around in this thing, running around it, diving into the pillows, reading books, playing with the flashlight and watching the glowing lights on the ceiling, this boy didn’t want to go to bed. Good thing he woke up and it was right there for him to experience all over again. Such fun. Rob and I felt like kids again, unwrapping the toy boxes and getting everything out, playing trains and cars, bouncing new balls, dancing to Snoopy, etc. We completely forgot about our own gifts and just hunkered down on the floor to play with Jace. It was so freaking awesome. But then again, I think Jace brought out the child in everyone this Christmas. We looked around and our families were just as consumed in the toys as we were, ha. We’re truly so blessed to have such loving families.

P.S. We also used this holiday to start Star Wars! I feel like we’re the last humans on earth who haven’t seen it. So, we started with episodes 4,5 and 6 .. then I sort of want to skip 1-3 and just watch the new one! I hear it’s AH-mazing. Are you a Star Wars fan? I think I’m hooked for life! And how cute is chewbacca?! I might need to get this backpack for Jace. Or maybe for myself ;)

Hope you all had as playful a holiday as us ..  XOXO
