Finding joy, reads

Blog Inc. party

To celebrate Oh Joy!‘s new book, Blog Inc., we hosted ourselves a little blogging party in Heather’s cottage kitchen, got out our mini notebooks and worked on our blog outlines and goals. We even wrote up a creative brief for our blogs {it’s funny to be talking about my blog and writing a blog post at the same time}. It was a very productive night of food, planning, dessert, discussion, Christmas music on the record player, hot chocolate and ideas! {One Pretty Place – we wished you could have joined us!} It’s our hope to keep focused and have fun with our blogs. . . so look out 2013. . . we’re ready!

Do you have a creative brief for your blog? If not, I’d be happy to share our template with you :) No matter what, you should read Blog Inc. It’s a quick read {I read it in 2 days} and will instantly inspire you!!!

Monterey

Cannery Row Brewing Co

Do you ever go out for a man-date with your man? I do. The hubby wanted to take me to a hot spot of his for work, so I gladly went along for the ride. Cannery Row Brewing Co. at one point had 75 tap handles of Sierra Nevada, a favorite of Rob’s, so we enjoyed the patio and ordered some man food. Not sure I can call it man food when it was my idea to order the mini corn dogs. It was a gorgeous day in Monterey. I’m LOVING this November weather!

The man-date didn’t stop there. You can’t go to Monterey without buying some salt-water taffy. I about screamed when I saw the bacon maple taffy.

30 in Kauai

Vote for ’30 in Hawaii’ theme

Hi friends! Time to help me pick which theme. Please look these over and leave a comment with your vote:

Check this post later this week to see which wins!

. . .

Well, I’ve taken the votes into consideration and also my own, and have decided on . . . VINTAGE HAWAII with a side of Chic! Excited to start planning in 2013!

Friends, Heather by Hand

A Friendsgiving

This Thanksgiving we stayed in Santa Cruz and invited Heather over for a FRIENDSgiving. We split up the menu and while the turkey cooked, we pulled out all the Thanksgiving episodes of Friends and watched. Us three are annoyingly obsessed with Friends. We quote it, we live it, we love it {don’t ever try to play us in Friends Scene It, you’d lose}. We even tried to dress the part. We lounged, snacked on some appetizers and enjoyed our Thanksgiving together around the dinner table. Everything was delicious. It was a change to not be around our families for Thanksgiving, but a Friendsgiving was just as wonderful to us this year. And I still got my own helping of candied yams so I was happy.

I think I used every single dish I own, hahahaha. Now, I’m a total pumpkin pie snob, being that it’s my all time favorite pie, and I’m going to brag a little here and say that my first home-made pumpkin pie turned out perfect! I completely surprised myself! Did you try any new recipes this year?

Check Heather’s blog for more Friendsgiving pictures and her pecan pie.

My heart is overflowing with happiness right now. It might be because I’ve had pumpkin pie for breakfast every day this weekend, or the fact that I can’t get enough of my love. We are having so much fun together in California. Hope you all had a nice turkey day with your families {or friends in our case} and are as excited for Christmas as we are. We get to see our AZ families and friends in 4 weeks! Our Christmas boxes are out and so is Last Christmas by WAM on repeat. Here’s what brought me joy last week:

1. Tacoma’s new Christmas bandana. What a sweetie.
2. Seeing a family of deer on our way home from Felton.
3. Morning walks with the dogs and hubby.
4. Our Friendsgiving! More on that later. . .

What brought you joy last week??
