Aptos

Back to CALI!!

It’s been almost 2 months since my last post! WOW! I think that’s honestly the longest I’ve gone! I’m so sorry universe (and future Cheryl). You could say we’ve been quite the busy bees. Mainly because we moved BACK to CALIFORNIA!!! An opportunity came up with the company I work for, and one that would get us back to Santa Cruz, so I took it!! It’s been a complete whirlwind since I said yes. God is so good, is all I can say. He even gave us a great rental back in Aptos, where we used to live, equipped with a home office for me, a basketball hoop, a beautiful yard and a gardener! We feel so fortunate to have had this door to California open back up for us. I can’t speak for Rob, but this area is truly my happy place. Driving down the 1, going back to the church we loved, seeing the friends we’ve missed and smelling that ocean air brings back all the feels I felt those years ago, when Rob and I ventured out here together. Our nights of playing baseball in Arizona in our backyard are now spent on Hidden Beach in Aptos. California sure has welcomed us back, with gorgeous beach days, blue skies and foggy mornings. We are going to miss our families something fierce, but for some reason, all feels right. We feel more in the moment out here in a way. I can’t explain it. But, when I see Jace’s blonde locks with the ocean behind him, or his little feet in the sand, I just know this is where we were meant to be. Where I want to raise my boys .. until God calls us to be somewhere else that is.  Look for more updates along the way. I can’t wait to run the boys all around this area and watch them explore and learn. It’s so exciting!

Walker

Walker at 2 months

My Walker baby is 2 months already!  And Oh my god! I love him so much! He’s smiling like crazy and babbling all the time. He’s staying more awake during the day and sleeping more at night, at least for a longer stretch in the beginning. He’s got a little cradle cap that we’re trying to doctor up and take care. Other than that, he’s 16.5lbs of loooooove. He loves to sleep and be rocked on his side, and he loves our bed (my fault!). He’s a master at breastfeeding and has the cutest toes. And bless his little heart, he sure does tolerate Jace’s constant love and attention and poking and hugging and holding and petting >DD I think they’ll be close brothers, once Walker knows who Jace is, hahaha. I just can’t get enough of Walker and stare at him all day long, even when he’s sleeping. His little rolls and triple chins are amazing. They also require a lot of cleaning! Also, don’t ever put coconut oil on a baby to help with dry skin. The next day it will smell like BARF. His fussiness is evening out and I’m far more in tune with his needs and how to entertain and soothe him. Now Rob just needs to get more practice ;)

Rose Pops

I came across Garage East on Instagram from a friend and just HAD to take my sister there for her birthday, and for the rose pops! Not sure she loves rose as much as me, but it’s supposed to hit 120 this week so I thought we needed something extra fun to cool us off. Garage East has an aboslutely beautiful patio, fully decked with misters too I might mention. While you sip on their selection of Arizona wines, they give you chips and olives. In case someone in your party doesn’t like wine they can go next door and grab a beer on tap, and even a taco from SoCal and bring it back to the patio. Happy birthday, Pamsy. I’m so lucky to have you for a sister to share life with!

Activities for Kids, Cher Joy

Around here lately

Oh, hi. Coming back to share a few things that brought me joy last week. One being Mother’s Day. Although the day was spent running around celebrating our Moms around town, I was still fortunate enough to enjoy all the travel time with my boys.  Here are some blurry shots of me with my sweethearts!

I’ve also been enjoying Walker’s chubby thighs. I just want to bite them! Instead I kiss them all day long. So deilcious.

Rob and I had our first date night last week, too. We went to a Rours and Pours event at the Phoenix Zoo .. it was such a beautiful night and my first time just strolling the zoo without having to run after Jace face. I think Rob and I are going to need more regularly planned date nights, now that we have two kiddos to wrestle. It’s so important!

We have a hummingbird nest in our backyard that Rob has been obsessing over – Mr. birdwatcher that one – and he even captured some up close pictures of the Momma and babies. Too cute. We definitely can’t go without documenting this fun day, staring at the hummingbirds one Sunday.

I always love doing little art projects with Jace, to keep his mind exercised in some way! This one lasted like 5 minutes, but it was fun all the while! Jace gets pretty excited about any activity or project we give him, which just melts my heart. I’m also loving Jace’s new Daddy-style hair cut .. !

The Arizona heat is here just about so we’re trying to prep ourselves with pool time and early day plans. Then we walk into our cooled house where we keep it at around 73 degrees >D Hope you’re having a nice week in your parts!
