Rose Pops

I came across Garage East on Instagram from a friend and just HAD to take my sister there for her birthday, and for the rose pops! Not sure she loves rose as much as me, but it’s supposed to hit 120 this week so I thought we needed something extra fun to cool us off. Garage East has an aboslutely beautiful patio, fully decked with misters too I might mention. While you sip on their selection of Arizona wines, they give you chips and olives. In case someone in your party doesn’t like wine they can go next door and grab a beer on tap, and even a taco from SoCal and bring it back to the patio. Happy birthday, Pamsy. I’m so lucky to have you for a sister to share life with!

Family pics in Gilbert

We went downtown last weekend to snap a few pictures for our holiday card. It was pretty tricky. Jace didn’t smile or face forward half the time. And when he did he looked like a thug. In others he was staring at the planes flying over above, pointing at Grandpa trying to get his attention forward, or wrapping his face in his blankie. Should make for an interesting holiday card this year. Be on the look out friends!

Some randoms from last month

thumb_IMG_6896_1024Well, since this life isn’t going to slow down, I might as well post some memories from last month that I don’t want to forget. Man, did October fly. And now it’s already, what, Nov 12?! The temps around here are pretty wonderful. The Arizona winter is here and mornings are in the 50s. We’ve been spending a lot of time outside and in downtown Gilbert, our new little home town. One of our favorite places is Veteran’s Park. It’s perfect for Jace’s size, with a mini merry-go-round and even some musical features.

thumb_IMG_6892_1024 thumb_IMG_6895_1024 thumb_IMG_6898_1024Jace and I tried the new ice-cream shop downtown, Petersen’s. Not impressed, but their Halloween decor was on point.  The picture below was just before Jace fell off the stool and knocked the ice-cream cup to the ground. It happened so fast! And that was the end of our ice-cream adventure, hahaha.

Rob went fly fishing in New Mexico with his Dad and brother, too, in October. He had a blast, caught a ton of fish (that he had to throw back) and got a lot of brother bonding in. thumb_IMG_6961_1024And the same weekend Rob went fishing, is the same weekend I discovered that I’m a complete push over. Jace literally pushed me and slapped me around all weekend, telling me what to do, and what to play, and what to feed him. I caved and fed him an entire pineapple on one of the days just so he’d stop throwing tantrums to get into the fridge! At one point he had me cornered! Maybe he’s going through a growth spurt, maybe I just wore him out to the point of hunger and exhaustion. Who knows. He is a total toddler terror at times and I just have to be patient and help him deal with his frustrations and learn good from bad behavior. And not give in!

thumb_IMG_6965_1024thumb_IMG_6963_1024thumb_IMG_6964_1024Another fun day in October was our play date with my sister and her friends. Jace spent the entire day jumping on the trampoline, had such a blast. Thank you Audra!

thumb_IMG_6979_1024 thumb_IMG_6981_1024I guess that wraps up October … !! Hope yours was eventful and full of memories, too!

Activities for Kids, Favorites, Gilbert

We love our Dutch Bros.

thumb_IMG_6932_1024Our favorite thing to do on the weekend is get up early and take the bikes to Dutch Brothers here in Gilbert. We live right down the block from one. They sure do treat us well there. And they’re always so happy and full of life. I get the vanilla iced latte, Rob gets an iced coffee with a triple shot and honey .. and Mr. Jace gets the strawberry smoothie, with extra whip ;) After we wait in line and dance to the techno music, we normally take a few sips  and then continue our bike ride down to Gilbert for the splash pad. It’s truly the best way to get charged up for the weekend if you ask me. And the sky was so pretty this day. Not too hot or sunny, just the right amount of sweat, ha. If you don’t already follow Dutch Bros. on Instagram, you should.  I follow their Arizona Insta too.

Gilbert, Gold Canyon

Top Golf, then more golf.

IMG_5819In case you haven’t picked up on this, this past Father’s Day/birthday weekend was ridiculously busy. We did way too much. I don’t even remember sleeping. Thankfully we got to spend some good quality time with our dads. We treated my Dad to Top Golf, pretty much the most exciting thing to do around here, and Rob’s Dad to Jurassic World (no photos, sadly). It was my parents first time to Top Golf and they’re already hooked. It’s like a video game, but better.

IMG_5815 IMG_5816 IMG_5817 IMG_5831 IMG_5837Then on Father’s Day morning, I took Rob out for 18 holes at Gold Canyon Golf Resort. In the desert. I did book us an early enough tee time so that we wouldn’t completely melt. By the 15th hole though I thought I was going to collapse from the heat, ha. I got so much golf and swings in that weekend, my whole back is sore!
