Our home daycare provider, Wheeler’s Drop-a-Tot (a.k.a. Veronica:)), hosted a little Family Fun day for all the kids and us parents this past weekend. It was such a good time! We snacked on carna asada tacos and fruit, mingled with the other parents and watched our kiddos play for a couple hours. All the kids know each other so well and love to play together. And Jace especially liked seeing his girlfriend Stella ;) The play center by Supertots Veronica rented out was pretty awesome, too. Great for birthday parties. We sure do love Veronica and her girls and the whole group. I can’t explain how comforting it is to see all our kids play together and also talk with their parents about the same things we’re going through, to share stories and laugh at each other (and who am I kidding, at our kids, too!) Thanks, Veronica for having us all over. It was such a special day!

Hello friends. Happy New Year! Seems I’ve celebrated quiet a few New Years on this ol’ blog. And now we’ve hit 2017. Wow. Another year alive = always a huge win! It’s been raining non stop here, which is pretty wild for us Arizonans, so I’m sipping some hot “pregnancy” tea. Gotta take advantage while I can. I’ve decided to make some resolutions for myself this year. Things I really suck at you could say. Things I really want to work on. Here goes:
- Cut back (a lot) on sugar, especially the bad kind. Meaning no donuts. No tropical Skittles. No chooclate bars. Not as MUCH fast food. Meaning I need to read ingredients more and stop putting so much crap into my body (and Jace’s!). I still have my eyes on one of these recipes for Valentine’s Day, but I really need to cut back. Sugar should be more of a treat when the occassion hits, and not an every day thing.
- Spoil a friend once a month. This blog is also about GIVING joy, and I really need to do that more. So, watch out, you might be on the list!
- Save money, and not spend it. Be happy with what I got. This is going to involve unsubscribing from a lot of promotional emails (which I’ve already done today, including Brickyard Buffalo >> check!). Can’t be tempted to buy stupid sh#t I really don’t need. Especially with another baby on the way. Unless Oxford Trunk alerts me that this shirt is back in stock of course, which I don’t think will EVER happen :((
- And last, and probably the biggest – stop trying to please others. Find my center, whatever that looks like. Be smarter about who I spend my time with and where my energy goes. Flat out say no and stop trying to please everyone. This book has been rocking my outlook on life lately (best Christmas gift ever, Rob!) and articles like this.
Hopefully this isn’t too much for me to work on this year. #1 and #4 might be the hardest .. wish me luck!
What can I say, we had a wonderful Christmas. I can’t get over how wonderful it was. To celebrate the birth of Jesus, and share his love with others, to open presents from Santa Claus and all that comes with the season, including spending time with family. But now our tree is down, the decorations all put away. It’s time to bring in the New Year. And there is so much to be thankful for. This time of year I’m reminded of how lucky I am to be here and with people to love. Isn’t love the best thing in life? It’s truly a gift. So, to end with that note, here are some of the things that brought me joy this last week: gifts of thoughtfulness that definitely didn’t go unnoticed.
1.A thoughtful surprise from our realtor. He’s truly the best. The oreo truffles were to-die-for!
2. Pajama day at daycare. I’m so thankful for Veronica. Even though she doesn’t celebrate the holiday, she still did something festive for the kiddos.
3. A calendar gift that is actually going to benefit someone else (and not just a wall in my house)! Thanks, Heather ;)
4. The luminaries our neighbors picked up for us and set out in front of our house, so we could partake in the neighborhood tradition on Christmas Eve. They are so sweet.
Hope you all had a merry Christmas!
I didn’t get around to mailing out Christmas cards this year, so here you go. Merry Christmas from us to you! I’m so freaking excited for 2017. Another baby. More blogging. More life goals to accomplish. More joy to share with those I care about. More adventures. Preschool for Jace face. And maybe a vacation in there somehow?? Hope you all have a lovely holiday. Thanks to those who check this little blog of mine;)
I met my friend Kristin for a little girl date this past Sunday and it was so lovely. We are HUGE fans of the local pop-up Teaspressa and have been DYING to try her new storefront with Ruze. We would always see Teaspressa at our favorite craft events, including Pineapple Triangle and the Phoenix Flea, and are so happy that she has her own location now where we can enjoy her tea anytime we want (plus it’s literally 5 min from my house!). The pairing with Ruze was a smart move as well .. we loved all the copper undertones (even down to the silverware!!!). Especially Kristin since copper/bronze is such a part of her life color palette (like coral is in mine). We ordered our tea, and some scones, sat and visited, and exchanged our Christmas gifts before heading to the nail salon to pamper ourselves. Kristin also walked away with some gold-coated rose sugar cubes and me a cactus-shaped cookie for Jace face. I love this woman dearly, and that we share in our love for thick paper stock, unique craft projects, and rose colored things. She is truly one of the best, and I always leave feeling inspired and so uncontrollably content. My mind actually feels lighter and happier. Can’t explain it. I simply never want our time to end. The next time you’re in old town, check out the Ruze Cafe House for some Teaspressa!
