Giving Joy, Projects

Giving thanks

For Thanksgiving this year, I wrote little thank you’s to all the ladies I work with. When you spend so much of your life at work, it’s important to like who you work with. In my case, I get to spend it with some pretty awesome chicks. I couldn’t feel more blessed and thankful for knowing them. They’re all so talented and funny and thoughtful and driven. They inspire me every day. Especially my boss. I was feeling more sentimental than usual so I wrote them all a note of thanks for all they bring to my life. Here’s a funny picture of us all  – minus Loni {shhh – don’t tell them I posted this!}:

Do you have big plans for the holiday? We’ll be hosting another Friendsgiving here in the Cruz {we just “brined” our turkey!} — we’re definitely going for simplicity this year. I even opted to buy instead of bake pies this year. Plus, I can’t really pass up Costco’s organic pumpkin pie. It’s to-die-for. I wish you all a warm Thanksgiving, filled with love, good food & good company!

Santa Cruz Mountains Passport Days

I’m a big fan of John Benedetti and his Sante Arcangeli Wine, and heard that they’d be having a tasting this weekend during Santa Cruz Mountains Passport Days {which I stumbled upon on Google}, so we took a nice little drive up to Los Gatos to stop by. It was a gorgeous day for wine-tasting {for Rob to enjoy that is}. I’m so excited for John and even more excited that he now has a tasting room in Pescadero {!!}. Next time you’re in Santa Cruz, take a drive up the coast to Pescadero for a tasting. The Sante pinot noir is amazing.

{Rob tasting, and John pouring!}

Weekends are so wonderful, aren’t they? We love them so much, especially when we have no plans and no one to see. When the week takes a lot of you, it’s nice to not do anything for a couple days. The week of course flew by, which is good and bad sometimes. I find myself wishing that time would slow down. But still in the midst, here’s what brought me joy last week:

1. Christmas has arrived at Starbucks, along with peppermint brownie cake pops {!}
2. Started a new book to intermix with all my baby books.
3. A cozy night by the fire.
4. A hot date with my man downtown.
Have a great week friends!

Oh, boy! baby shower invitation

I’m spoiled to know some pretty talented women. Heather by Hand {my Heather}, Alissa Bell & designer, Loni Johnston, helped create my baby shower invitation. I’m going back for an Arizona-style, patio baby shower so we incorporated the sex of the baby {Heather did the script for “Oh Boy!”} and succulents. Mint is one of my base colors for the nursery so we really played it up {thanks, Loni!}.
Miss Bell worked her magic on the letterpress and brought the design to life!

Heather also addressed my envelopes {love!!}.

I’m so excited to see my friends & family next month. Maybe having some more baby things around here will make it feel more real {aside from the little man moving around in my belly, right?!}. Will take some more style shots once all the details come together for the shower.

Sunset walk

Our weekend was pretty uneventful. Rob made a new friend, we did some yard work. Sat by the fire at night, bought a pumpkin pie. Did some reading. It was absolutely marvelous. I decided I needed some exercise so we wrapped up our weekend with a sunset walk, with some stair-stepping!

{my plumeria plant doesn’t want to live. Too cold here!}
{I found a gorgeous flower garden down the road from us, in someone’s backyard! Jealous.}
