Family, Santa Cruz

Chardonnay II

The Joy family came to the Cruz this past weekend, and I had a special excursion planned for us: Chardonnay II. Going back through the pictures warmed my heart. It was the best day. We had so much fun. The weather was perfect. I booked the sunset cruise for us, with drinks and appetizers. The Chardonnay crew was great. As soon as the sails went up and the tunes started, we were up for a relaxing cruise around the Santa Cruz harbor. I know I already said it, but it really was the best day. We couldn’t stop smiling and laughing at each other. I’m so glad we could all be in California together and do something out on the water. Thank you, Chardonnay!

Happy birthday {to me!}

Well, I’m officially in the 30 club, and I couldn’t be happier. Turning 30 isn’t that scary. Everyone tells me that your 30s are your best yet. So, bring it on world! My girls at work helped me rein in my 30th with a wonderful, Fall-themed celebration. Have I ever mentioned how much I love working with graphic designers and creatives? They really bring their “A” game on birthdays. Flowers, apple cider, almond scones, homemade chili with cornbread, pulled-pork sandwiches and pumpkin-spiced cupcakes. I had gifts galore to open — lots of comfy things to wear for Fall, a cutesy kit for Fall, a washi tape dispense {!!}, a great shoulder bag and $ for shoes!

Then I came home to more gifts from family and friends. Lots of comfy things and smelly things {which I love!}. I have so many wonderful people in my life. God has definitely blessed with a great network of people, and I couldn’t be more grateful. I really don’t deserve all these amazing people! Thank you to all who remembered my birthday. I love you!

Baby J, beach house

Waking up at the beach house

Happy Fall, friends! Well, I have more news. We moved. I don’t know what is wrong with us, but we tend to move every year. This marks the 5th place we’ve lived in almost 6 years of marriage. It’s exhausting to think about. Especially when you’re 5 months pregnant. Thankfully Rob did the moving and I the packing! Although I truly hate moving, I really LOVE our new place. We’d been looking for months for something bigger, and when this place popped up we didn’t hesitate — only 4 blocks from the beach! Pretty surreal. We had 2 weeks to get in, and literally had to make the decision overnight to keep the place. But, it all worked out. And now we live in a legit beach house, and can smell the ocean from our backyard.  Plus, we now have a room for the baby. It might be my favorite room in the whole house ;) This weekend we woke up in our new place and embraced Fall. I love this time of year and am already watching Hocus Pocus and lighting the spice candles. We made breakfast, brewed some coffee and hot chocolate, and went for a long walk on the beach. It was a beautiful morning. I can’t help but thank God for this new place. Even better, we’re going to be a family in this house {!!!}.
