BOO-ze your friends

Are you guys all ready for Halloween? We’re not dressing up {or passing out candy}, so I did a little something for my friends at work. I did this same thing a couple years ago, but added some upgrades, like washi tape and wraphia. I turned on some Michael Buble Pandora, sipped on pumpkin spice coffee and enjoyed a crafty morning on my back patio.

Here’s what you need to “BOO!”ze your friends:

  1. Paper; washi tape; scissors; pens; wraphia.
  2. Bottles of wine – one for each friend. I always opt for red since it’s scarier than white.

I like to go to Trader Joe’s for the wine. They have a great selection of wine labels that are dark & spooky – and cost any where from $1.99 – $6.99 each. Which, is pretty cheap if you’re buying for a few friends.

I put a bottle at each of their desks at work and surrounded it with some black, shredded paper. And done!

Happy Halloween friends!

Gift for a new neighbor

A little cottage went up for rent by us and I had my eyes on it for weeks. We can’t rent it of course since we already have a place of our own, but it’s adorable and has a killer back patio with a view of the ocean. On my lunch hour as I was cruising up our street, I saw the new resident out with her dog and stopped for a chat. Yes, I was my overly zestful self and asked her a million questions. Plus, I’m really excited to feel apart of a neighborhood, where here people wave and make genuine small talk.

One Sunday I made Joy the Baker‘s oatmeal raspberry scones from her new cookbook. We had extra so I wrapped up a few, added a note and some flower seeds and dropped it off to our new neighbors {they’re New Yorkers!}!

Have you ever put together something for a new neighbor? If so, what did you do?

Sea shells make everything better

When we walk the beach, Rob and I look for pretty shells. And I’ve recently found them the perfect finishing touch to a wrapped gift! My favorites are the ones with the ridges; they’re more artsy.

At my office we have these super soft, American Apparel tees and they come in child, women’s and men’s styles. So I thought to include one in my Mom’s birthday box and also sent a couple out to my 2nd cousins. Also made sure to include a little shell!

Just a heads up. If you receive a gift from me in the near future, it most likely will include a little sea shell;)

Happy Valentine’s Day

In lieu of us moving, I wanted to do something extra special this Valentine’s Day. So, I combined these and with this idea for a sweet treat for my co-workers who I’ll miss so much.

What you need:

  • Ingredients for rice crispy treats (marshmallows, rice cereal and butter
  • Frosting or candy coating
  • Sprinkles
  • Heart-sharped cookie cutters
  • Sucker sticks
  • Plastic wrap, ties & scrap paper

Make your rice crispy treats, flatten out and using your heart-shaped cookie-cutter, cut out some hearts!

Let harden just slightly and then “stick”’em! Have fun with the frosting, candy coating and sprinkles to decorate.

Let dry and then insert into a clear baggie cover and twist tie shut.

Add your personalized note. In my case, mine said ‘”OWL” Miss You’.

Then give to your friends! Happy Valentine’s Day!!!
