I totally have a kid living in my house. And I love it. I have the alphabet magnet letters for the fridge and chalk on my sidewalks. The toy trails .. the messy dinners, the new coffee table material and cotton ball fights. And you can’t forget Cars in the tub and the stuffed animal hug parties. Jace is also getting taller by the minute. I’m seriously having a blast with Jace .. he makes me want to be more creative and adventurous. I’m so excited to be a part of his childhood and really hope I can make it great. Game on Jace face!

I’m currently obsessing over a wall in my living room. I got a canvas wrap of one of my favorite pictures of Jace and because it’s fairly small, I decided to start to build out from it, with other picture frames and pieces, creating sort of a wall collage. So now I’m on the hunt for new pieces to add to it. I’ve found a cute mirror at Home Goods (I could spend all day at Home Goods!), a white wood box from Target for my favorite house plant, a wood panel with a mason jar painted on it .. but I need a good 2-3 more design elements to make it complete. Such a task! .. especially when the coloring needs to match Jace’s canvas. Thinking I will try Hobby Lobby and then maybe Ross. Any other places I should look for good decor options? Not sure this was worth a blog post but I’m excited to add some color and texture to my walls. I usually keep them so bare, so this is a big deal for me, lol!
Well, we moved. Again. In case you were wondering where I’ve been. You would think I was getting paid for moving as often as I have. Almost like a reality television show, where I would get paid to move to different cities and allow you to follow us on our adventures — the restaurants, the events, the sights. I wish. It’s more the opposite. Moving isn’t cheap, and I’m certainly not getting paid to do this almost every year. Perhaps I have some kind of disorder when it comes to being settled. Perhaps I don’t want to feel settled. Who knows. By now I would consider us experts at moving. 5 rentals in 7 years. Ridiculous. On the bright side, I guess there is something wonderful about moving into a new place. Out with the old, in with the new. Clean, de-clutter, drop a load to the Goodwill, start fresh. As much as I hate packing, I have to admit, I love to unpack. Put the music on and organize. Almost therapeutic. Until your baby wants your attention and you have to put the unpacking on hold and snuggle and play. Not complaining, just a different kind of move this time! But to the point here, our new place has a full on garden in the front yard, with planter boxes and all! Basil, tomatoes, lemons, limes and more. And in the back we have grapes. GRAPES! In our backyard. And they’re delicious. When I walk in the back, I smell grapes. I love it. It makes this move all that better. I’m excited to save money by living out in the hills, and hopefully we can begin to daydream of the day when we finally plant our roots, and settle somewhere. Whatever that means. More pics to come.
I was feeling something extra delicious for Easter. . . Carrot cake is one of my favorite desserts of ALL time, yet I’ve never made one. So, since we were spending Easter just the two of us, I decided to go all out and make it from scratch. I used Joy the Baker’s Kitchen Sink Carrot Cake recipe {including her cream cheese frosting}, and somehow followed it perfectly because it was seriously the best carrot cake I’ve ever had — and I made it! I think I just started a new Johannes tradition! We couldn’t stop laughing at the goodness that was going on in our mouths.
Thought these were very Easter-themed and Springy. We missed our families a lot this Easter, but I’m glad we had each other, along with good food, cake, prayer and snuggles to console us. A great Easter in my book.
