My friend Heather put this photo collage together for me from the 4th. It’s the perfect example of our curious little toddler. This little 18 month old of mine is testing his limits in all kinds of new ways. He’s beginning to get easily frustrated too and wants to slap or hit. Not sure where that came from, but I guess when you have adults holding you back from doing things and going places you want to go or sticking your finger in electrical sockets or hearing “no”, you get a little upset. But more than anything, he’s just super curious. One little thing will lead to another. From dental floss and doggy doors to bathtub drains and fish bowls. His hands are everywhere. Keeps us on our toes for sure! And his little hands are starting to reach further too, including onto the stove! I felt horrible when I wasn’t on top of it one night until it was too late and he had touched a hot pan. Little boy got a small burn but it was nothing we couldn’t remedy fairly quickly with some ice packs and aloe vera. Time to start using the back burners. He’s my curious little boy and I love it. I just hope I can teach him patience and manners along the way.
Jace
Grandpa Johannes watched Jace for us a couple weeks back and took him out in the back to do some gardening. Not sure where his pants went, but seeing how hot and humid it’s been around here, I’d want to take my pants off, too. Jace in that little wicker hat is too much. Just one more reason why I want to squeeze him every time I see him. This kid loves to be outside. Thanks Grandpa for giving Jace a little project!
It’s been quite the challenge for us to get Jace face to eat vegetables. We’ve tried mixing broccoli with his mac & cheese, cooked carrots as a side, green bean casserole .. Lately we’ve been making smoothies with kale, just so he gets some greens. Recently, we were feasting on our favorite salmon dinner, with an avocado side salad and seasoned asparagus. For a laugh, we gave Jace a stick and to our surprise he chomped through the whole thing. Then he grabbed another. And another. And another. He even smiled at one point! I thought at first, it must feel nice on his 4th tooth coming in on the bottom, or maybe it’s because of the lemon juice on it. All I know is he couldn’t stop eating it. He ate almost as much as I did! And boy, did his diaper smell the next morning! hahahahahaha Heck, it was worth it! Good eating little boy!
Jace’s favorite thing to do lately is hide (or be chased). And his favorite place to hide is this little space between the refrigerator and wall in the kitchen. He likes when I run around, calling his name, and then I hear his giggles from his hiding space and then turn around the corner, finding him! When he knows he’s been found, he gets this proud, wild grin on his face like he’s out-smarted me. Such a goofball. Hurts my heart how much I love him.
