Jace

Jace at 5 months

Baby blue eyes is 5 months. Gol. Time is flying. He is just about sitting up on his own, prefers to sleep out of the swaddle now and on his side, loves his back rubbed. He is still a hot little guy, he sweats in the car seat, in the bed, in his stroller. Every where. The back of his mullet hair is always wet from sweat, ha. He still loves to observe everyone and gaze into eyes. He can almost hold his own bottle, is starting to eat baby food {sweet potatoes and bananas!} and wants everything in his mouth. Oh, and he’s definitely teething — if he’s not sweating he’s drooling. Hates the “binkie” and has officially found his thumb. Sleeping and napping is so wonderful with him. He’ll rest his head on your pillow, stare into your eyes, then slowly fall asleep. It melts my heart. To wake up and see his little face. He still is sleeping all through the night and can even fall asleep on his own to just a little music. We seriously have been so incredibly blessed to have such a happy-go-lucky boy. He isn’t afraid of anyone yet and will offer a smile to anyone who is goofy and friendly enough. He is such a bundle of love. Our bundle of love. And boy do we love him. Can’t even stand it.  Pretty sure he’s addicted to kisses and cuddles and wiggles. Or, maybe we are.

Our angel

Found this picture in my camera reel and was enchanted. Look at the light coming down on Jace’s head. This was taken on Father’s Day at his dedication at our church. Makes me think God was blessing our little angel when we were. Thank you, God.

Family, Jace, Lake Tahoe

Hidden beach at Lake Tahoe

Hi friends! Long time no talk. Hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend. We sure did, and just got back from Lake Tahoe.  I already want to go back, back to where the water is aqua and teal and blue and beautiful. Reminds me of the water in Oia or Capri. It’s breathtaking. Makes you want to jump in, swim to the other side or just drink a cold glass of water.  Ha. The water wasn’t freezing either, just what every lake temp is that I’ve been in. Warmer than the ocean up here, that’s for sure. We met up with my family and stayed 4 days in a darling little lake house rental {thanks, Airbnb!}. Our rental was walking distance to King’s Beach, fireworks and lake excursions. I definitely recommend paddle boarding at this beach. Amazing and very easy. Except, a small wave came up fast and I freaked and about did a cartwheel, flopping off my board. Now, THAT’S a cold water plunge! On our last day, before we made the long drive home, Rob and I stopped at Hidden Beach, a little beach south of Incline Village {on the Nevada side}. Yes, I read about it in Sunset Magazine and was determined to hit up one spot mentioned in last year’s Tahoe issue. It was a little hard to get to {a 20-min walk if you don’t find close parking}, but worth it {if you don’t have a baby to backpack around}. . . definitely one of those coves you’d want to park your boat for awhile. Great for snorkeling and adventures with your doggies. Not as family-friendly {by that I mean baby-friendly}. But we like a challenge and sweated our way to and from it. Whatever. Jace did great though and slept in the Ergo. The pictures alone were worth our time. Lake Tahoe did not disappoint. And I think it wowed my family just as much as it wowed us again. More pictures to come!

I’m still here

In case you’re wondering, I’m still here. Just spending a lot of time with all of our visitors, who we love so much! For now, look at my son. And his delicious rolls ;)

Dedicating Jace

This past Sunday was a really special day for us. Not only was it Father’s Day, but it was also the day we dedicated Jace at our church. We stood in front of our closest friends in California and church community and voiced our commitment to raise Jace in a Christian environment. We promised to be role models by word and deed, by instruction and example, and by correction and encouragement, as we lead him in the ways of Jesus. We promised to whole-heartedly seek God’s love, grace, and wisdom, recognizing our dependence on him as we raise Jace.

{the little baby girl to our right was also 4 1/2 months old. Same age as Jace and half his size!}
{Robby joking that Jace was going to be a future power forward}

We also commited to praying the following prayer for him throughout his life. As we prayed we anointed his little body parts with oil {in which he tried to eat}:

May his mind have your wisdom. May his eyes see your glory. May his ears hear your voice. May his mouth tell your truth. May his heart be your home. May his hands do your work. May his feet follow wherever you lead. And may his knees only bow before you, his loving Lord and God.

A big thank you to our friends who came to share in this day with us. We are truly so blessed, every day, in so many ways. Thank you God for watching over us and continuing to pour your love onto us.
