Baby J, Projects

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Looking back at the attendance at my baby shower, and all the other gifties sent to our home, I’m reminded of how blessed we are to know so many creative and giving people. We really have some great friends. Friends sometimes I feel we don’t even deserve! Our families have spoiled us completely, making sure we’re all prepared. And I must say that we most definitely are {I just have to give birth now. No big deal, right?!}. I took a lot of time over the holiday to write personal thank yous to everyone. Friends & family — thank you again for your support and love over the last 9 months. We couldn’t be more thankful. We appreciate every single little thing. My heart is bursting with gratitude for you. We love you more than you know.

Creative goals for 2014

1. I’ve been thinking a lot about trying my “hands” at calligraphy, and would love to attend a formal class (Miss Heather must have finally rubbed off on me;)}. Overall, I’d just like to do more crafting and continue my education in the arts.

2. I think 2014 is the year I buy a new camera lens. I’ve been talking about it long enough. I just need to do it already, right?! And also take some more online photography & photo editing classes. Want to make sure I capture every little expression on our little boy’s face.

3. Time to re-brand Cher Joy, revisit my own creative brief and reboot. Will be doing some serious brainstorming and blogging in 2014 {or at least I’m aspiring to!}.

4. Subscribe to some good magazine reads. Something for me to look forward to in the mail, now that all the baby gifts have come to an end. Feel free to share your favorite magazines. Would love your recommendations!

5. Last, but not least, Pinterest & Instagram, oh, how I love you both. I’m a marketer at heart, yet I don’t use these two outlets to my advantage, to network and get creative. Hoping to up my game and creativity on both and really, just have more fun with both!

If you’re a blogger or DIYer, what are your creative goals for 2014?

Giving thanks

For Thanksgiving this year, I wrote little thank you’s to all the ladies I work with. When you spend so much of your life at work, it’s important to like who you work with. In my case, I get to spend it with some pretty awesome chicks. I couldn’t feel more blessed and thankful for knowing them. They’re all so talented and funny and thoughtful and driven. They inspire me every day. Especially my boss. I was feeling more sentimental than usual so I wrote them all a note of thanks for all they bring to my life. Here’s a funny picture of us all  – minus Loni {shhh – don’t tell them I posted this!}:

Do you have big plans for the holiday? We’ll be hosting another Friendsgiving here in the Cruz {we just “brined” our turkey!} — we’re definitely going for simplicity this year. I even opted to buy instead of bake pies this year. Plus, I can’t really pass up Costco’s organic pumpkin pie. It’s to-die-for. I wish you all a warm Thanksgiving, filled with love, good food & good company!

Pinterest party for 3

A couple of weekends ago I crossed something else off my summer bucket list — host a Pinterest Party. It was a small party, but still fun! I’d been dying to paint some stemless wine glasses ever since I saw this pin on Pinterest. I followed these DIY steps, and picked some yellows to paint with.

{I was super pleased with my new wine glasses}

Miss Katy made little sewing kits out of mason jars for her sisters.

Summer 2013 bucket list

It’s that time of year again — summer! Just like last summer, I wanted to make my bucket list for the coming months. A little to-do list to accomplish before the Fall. You’ll see a reoccurring theme below — it involves the word “GO!”. Here we go!

1. Plant lavender.
2. Host a Pinterest party.
3. Have a picnic at Baker Beach.
4. Frame some pictures {our walls are so horribly bare!}
5. Go to a movie on the beach.
6. Go camping – I’m resurrecting this from last year.
7. Go to Lake Tahoe.
8. Finish my reading list from last summer – and the books I’ve started this year already and haven’t finished! I’m so lame.
9. Attend a meditation session {carrying this over from last year, too}

A little less than my list from last year, but hopefully more do-able this time! :) What are your plans for the summer?
