Tahoe Gal

One of the little things I planned for us while on the North shore of Tahoe, was a boat ride on Tahoe Gal! It was the most beautiful afternoon for a happy hour cruise.  Little boy did so great, and we all had fun staring out onto the lake.  The pictures will say the rest.

{yeah, yeah, you have big muscles. We get it.}

To stay in South Tahoe: Basecamp hotel

This might be one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at, and I consider myself to be quite the hotel-connoisseur. I love hotels like I love pasta. My favorite part is opening the door to the room and snooping through everything. I stumbled upon Basecamp on TravelZoo. . . then booked a night for our anniversary. Literally a day later, I opened up my Sunset magazine {the bible} and what-ta-ya-know, there was a whole feature on them! This got me real excited. And let me tell you, we were not disappointed. This hipster hotel for the outdoorsy traveler rocked our world. We found ourselves wanting to just hang out at the hotel the whole time. The happy hour, free WiFi, free smores, hot tub on the roof, cozy leather couches, comfy beds, free continental breakfast {amazing by the way} and rustic, camp/Tahoe decor won us over completely. Plus, they give you 15% off your next stay. Can you say SCORE?! They’ll have my heart forever for giving me a coupon. Is it weird that we wanted to mingle wtih the hotel staff? They were all so chill and friendly. And talked basketball and gave us restaurant recommendations, and went searching for me when I lost my laptop plug. We will definitely be going back to Basecamp, and in the meantime, I’m going to keep talking about how awesome this hotel is. I mean, look at their logo and colors alone. Beautiful.

Anniversary in Tahoe

Best anniversary. EVER. We fell in love with Tahoe. I can only imagine how beautiful this lake is in the summer. We headed out early Saturday morning {6 am to be exact}, kicked it into 4-wheel drive once we hit the mountains, and cross-country skiied our littles hearts out. The snow was so fluffy and perfect. Skiing through Hope Valley reminded me of Michigan, the smell of the snow and cold. You think we’d be chilly but by the end of our lesson and tour, we were sweating like maniacs. After we returned our gear, we checked into our hotel {more on that later}, grabbed a late lunch at Stateline Brewery and then spent the rest of the night enjoying our hotel and the free smores! We woke to another gorgeous, crisp morning and ventured out to Emerald Bay before heading home. It was so romantic. I can’t even tell you. Rob can’t stop talking about Tahoe, so I’m sure we’ll be back soon. That majestic, blue water is mesmerizing.
