Family, Jace, Santa Cruz

Jace’s first trip to Woodstock’s

Woodstock’s Pizza in Santa Cruz holds a special place in our hearts. It was where we decided to have a baby. It was a regular ‘ol weekday {or maybe it was a Friday?}, this time last year. We were craving pizza and wings and Woodstock’s is usually our go-to spot in Santa Cruz. Out of no where, we started talking about our “plan” for a baby. We decided together, right then, to make it a reality sooner rather than later. We didn’t want to wait any more. We cried and held hands and realized that we had made a NEW plan = to get pregnant within the next few months, if at all possible. So, it seemed only right to get Jace there as soon as possible to complete our journey! Of course, he slept the whole time, so we’ll have to get him back there again real soon ;)

So lucky to have this guy

In case I haven’t said it, my Dad is one great guy. While my man was in Hawaii, he came out to the Cruz to keep me company. Although my energy levels still aren’t where they used to be, we sure did a lot! I couldn’t have us very well sit around and do nothing when the weather here right now is absolutely gorgeous {finally}! I made sure we ate good and did some things he wanted to do – like golf, bonfire on the beach and watch football. When I wanted to be a couch potato he was a couch potato. He even went to Tacoma’s dog training with me, which trust me, is a big deal – my Coma is a handful. The sunsets here on the coast have been perfect lately. So many colors to watch. We made a lot of memories together this past weekend:)

Congrats Rob!

Mr. Johannes received first place in the last incentive program last quarter at his work, and won an all-expenses paid trip BACK to Hawaii! Congratulations, honey!! I’m so jealous, but so happy for you! You earned it!!!

Cher Joy, Pregnancy

Cher joy

Hi friends. Cheryl here! Feels like forever since I’ve shared some of my own personal joy on here. The months have flown by since our Hawaiian adventure. Feels like so much has happened since May! I’ve been traveling over the last month, so it was nice to stay local this past weekend and catch up on things around the house. We finally have groceries in the house and I’m crossing some things off my Summer bucket list. And the biggest news of all, which I’m sure you’ve seen, is we’re going to have a little baby. It still doesn’t seem real to me. Every day I go about my day, and then when I feel a little nauseated, I’m reminded that I have a little person growing inside of me. Maybe it will feel real once I start to feel something, or see my belly grow a little more. I look forward to our doctor appointments so I can hear/see her or him. That’s when it feels real. This first trimester has been sort of a challenge for me. I’m not used to feeling this tired. I normally have a TON of energy, but as soon as I get home, all I want to do is sit on the couch, wrap up in a blanket {it’s been a cold summer in the Cruz!}, put on Netflix and eat something super bad. Like Taco Bell. For a person who loves salads, I can’t stand lettuce right now. Feeling tired is weird for me. If I get emotional it’s because I’m either super happy {I’ll just cry with happiness for no reason}, or it’s because I’m so completely exhausted and I don’t know how to deal with it. The inner energizer Cheryl bunny wants to clean and kickbox and shop, but my body is telling me to sleep, and rest. So, I give in. I hope to get some more energy in this next trimester and go back to the gym a little, walk the beach, ride my bike, etc. I even bought a prenatal yoga DVD today in preparation for when my body will come back to life again.

I’m trying to keep up with a healthy diet of protein, vegetables and fruits, drink water, take my vitamins, blah blah. I’m taking all the right meds for all my unusual body issues.  My favorite thing to do right now is to lather my belly with shea butter and oil.  Or lay out all the little baby clothes I’ve received so far. Thank you to all my friends who have sent gifts and notes of congratulations. You don’t know how much it means to me, especially when I feel so far from family and friends sometimes.

Aside from my ups and downs, Rob has been the biggest blessing. I can’t thank God enough for his kindness and patience. He is so excited to be a Dad. It’s all we talk about — when we’re not talking about work ;)  He’ll run and buy me anything I feel like eating, and will eat it with me.  He’ll be lazy with me and take long naps with me and watch chick flicks with me. He goes to bed at 8:45 with me and serves me Sprite in wine glasses. I really feel like the luckiest woman alive. We can’t wait.

So, until it feels more real, here is my 15 week baby “bump”.  My jeans aren’t fitting right anymore so as soon as I get home I jump into something warm and comfortable. Two more weeks and we get to see her again:)  Have a great week friends — !!
