Freshly picked blackberry muffins

Blackberry season is upon us here in Santa Cruz and we are loving it. There are literally vines galore in our little Rio Del Mar neighborhood. And I’m pretty much convinced that wild blackberries truly taste the best; they’re so flavorful and juicy. My mouth is watering just thinking about a freshly picked blackberry in my mouth. Lol! They also make for a fun activity for the kids; it’s just one more thing we love to do outside during this beautiful California summer.

Paint party baby shower at The Art House

Well, hi world! Long time no talk, hahaha. Yeah. 3 kids is CRAY. But I wanted to get these memories up of my sister’s baby shower! I was so excited to plan my sister’s baby shower. My sister’s BABY SHOWER! Oh, to shower her meant so much. I’ve secretly prayed that she would experience pregnancy and birth and motherhood. And now she is! She’s found a great man and was blessed with a healthy pregnancy. And since normal baby showers are so boring usually, with all the games and pastel colors, I decided to do something a little different. Something with a pop of color you could say! ;) A friend actually gave me the idea, and it was seriously perfect. We planned a painting party baby shower at the Art House in Gilbert, Arizona. Instead of going with a water color or other canvas, I opted for the succulent planter party and it was a total hit. We’re all adult women, desperately wanting more time to socialize, so it was the best place for the occasion. We catered Pita Jungle, my sister’s favorite, made her favorite fruit cookies, had “mom”-osas, and saved time at the end for gifts. My friend Kristin designed the invitation (thank you!!!). I saw the clear balloons on Pinterest and had fun with the other girls getting them painted before everyone arrived. You could say I went all out with the paint theme, ha. My sister looked so happy. I know she was a little nervous about being the center of attention, but it went great and she truly looked like she was in her happy place, surrounded by all her friends. So much love and conversation and lots of pictures, if you can’t tell. Congratulations my beautiful sister. I’m so ridiculously excited for you and Kevin. I love you so much. I hope you enjoyed your baby shower as much as me <3

Cheryl, Pregnancy

The waiting game

Still no baby over here, but definitely some contractions on and off. Little boy is sitting so low, right between my now widened hips.  Things gotta be getting ready down there. Or else I wouldn’t hurt so much and feel what I’m feeling. How I’m still functioning at this point I really don’t know. I’m such a zombie right now, moving from one mess to another, only for it to be a mess again 5 minutes later. We spent the entire weekend prepping for baby #3. Nothing like last minute, right? Picked up the 3rd car seat on Friday, as well as a crib. Just ordered the crib mattress and some other odds and ends.  Packed our hospital bag, stocked up on diapers, cleaned and caught up on laundry, moved furniture around, made some good meals at home. Did a lot of walking at Costco, soaked in a good message at church and played outside with the boys as much as possible. I keep moving because it helps take my mind off the fact that the small cramps I’m feeling are going to turn into big cramps soon enough and we’re going to have to rush to the hospital to get the party started for a third time. I can’t wait to see him though. I want more than anything for this pregnancy to be over with so he can be on the outside world with us and we can all start adjusting together. But most of all, I just want to make sure he is healthy, and pray that all goes well to get him out safely. Well, my eyes are burning so I guess I should get my glasses on, roll some Night serum on my eyes, eat an ice cream sandwich, start the dishwasher and go try to get comfortable on my bed. Who knows, maybe something will kick in officially tonight! Fingers crossed. Otherwise tomorrow is life as usual until this boy decides to make his appearance.

Walker Wednesday

Sicky Boy

My little Walker babe has come down with a bad fever and head cold of some sorts, so I’ve been taking some PTO to help him recover. One day we spent a couple hours at our pediatrician’s office and enjoyed a little picnic of water, puffs and Motrin. Thankfully he tested negative for flu, strep and ear infections. Poor guy, just breaks my heart to see him like this. Wish he could tell me exactly what was wrong! But I sure do enjoy the cuddles, since he’s normally on the move 24/7. A lot of butt in the air, blankies and binkie time, too. I hope he feels better soon <3
