Woodland Creatures Baby Shower Picnic

My work ladies threw me the most darling woodland creatures baby shower last week. It was the perfect send off into maternity leave! We all walked over to the Mission in our little town of San Juan Bautista and I was pleasantly surprised with woodland creatures, a picnic lunch, gifts and some mood music. It was a beautiful day and fun way to spend my last afternoon. I love the girls I work with so much. Thank you all for showering me!

Hi ya there. Happy Sunday! Well, sleep really isn’t fun anymore for me. For reasons I’d rather not talk about. I really wish I could have a cup of strong coffee right now. It’s been a rather lazy weekend for us so far. Went to a breastfeeding workshop yesterday and left feeling a little grossed out. I pray my nipples don’t look like those on the videos we watched. Scareville! As our weekends normally go, we’ve been lounging, eating good food and watching back episodes of Friends and The Office. We’ve got a lot of work to do today in the nursery and also want to check out the Santa Cruz flea market. Hopefully my body’s up for it. Only 2 more weeks ’til go-time {hopefully}. I have lots on my personal and creative to do list this week {and a little bit of regular work}. Plus, I registered for my first Calligraphy class! Just need to get some nibs now {yay!}. Also expanded my podcast stations for some new topics to listen to when I’m killing time before baby comes. Hope you all had a good, productive week. Here’s what brightened my week last week:

1. GIRLS!  Finally.
2. Crab feed in Capitola this week. Delicious.
3. Root beer floats before bed.
4. My woodland creatures baby shower at work {more pics to come!}

Have a great week friends!

Woodland Creatures – baby boy’s nursery {part I}

The nursery is slowly coming together.  Here’s a look at the color scheme and decor I’m going for. But as I’m going through all my goodies, I realize now that the gold I was going for is being substituted for more of an orange or grey, ha. I’ve been shopping like a maniac on Etsy lately, and can’t wait to post more pictures as things deliver and I can actually hang all my finds in the nursery. Why is Esty so flippin’ amazing?! I’ve spent way too much. As can be expected with the first baby, right? More pictures to come of the nursery, once it all comes together.

Wide awake

My body tends to wake up between 3:30 and 4:00a these days. It’s my new, natural alarm clock. Myself. I wake up, my mind starts spinning. I go downstairs, eat some cereal, drink some OJ. Turn on Downton Abbey, {blog} . . . pay bills, do laundry, run through my to-do list in my head, rub belly balm on my belly. When I’m this wide awake, I like doing these little things around the house before I get ready for the day and head into work {until I hit a wall at 2pm}. Perhaps my body is preparing me for the late nights and early mornings to come. The midnight feedings, the morning diaper changes. The change that is only weeks away now. Well, anywho, good morning to you!

{Mens’ pajama pants are so much comfier, btw}
San Francisco

To stay in San Francisco: Vertigo Hotel

Since we were planning on eating more than sleeping on our baby moon {and because we wouldn’t even be at the hotel for more than 24 hours}, I wanted to find a hotel that was semi-cheap {Travelzoo discount – yeah!}, centrally located and a little retro. We decided on the Vertigo Hotel in Nob Hill, and now I can’t stop saying “equilibrium”, hahaha. Definitely go for the Deluxe King – super comfy. I enjoyed all the orange tones, the street view, Hitchock’s ‘Vertigo‘ playing on repeat in the lobby. . . too fun. We felt safe and didn’t break the bank. It was a win-win.

{woke up to a beautiful Sunday in the city!}
