Cabo San Lucas – Part II: Lover’s Cove and Friends

The rest of our trip to Cabo was made up of eating food (a lot of it!), drinking a lot of Dos Equis and Pina coladas, and sleeping. Most nights we were in bed by 10:00 p.m., hahaha. Spending all that time with Rob, alone, was so wonderful. It took us a good day to let go and stop thinking we had to get back by a certain time to relieve the babysitter. We kept grabbing and looking for Jace, but then we’d realize again, “Oh, it’s just us on this vacation!!” Every day was open for whatever. This was actually the first vacation in a long time that I hadn’t planned one thing for us to do. We were actually going to do nothing but relax. Fortunately for me, the other Cheryl (my lively and loud friend from Hollister, California) had a lot planned, including dinners together and a boat tour to Lover’s Cove.

We woke up on the last day and took a glass bottom boat to the arches. Our driver took us all around the cliffs; we looked through the window to the Pacific, watched seals sunbathe and the colorful little fishes swim all around; and stared at all the scuba divers and snorklers that were out and about that morning. Our taxi driver dropped us at Lover’s Cove to swim, and came back for us later. The other side of the cove was the Divorce beach. Of course, that was the side that had the bigger stretch of beach to lounge on (pretty spot on actually), so we found ourselves there for most of the time. Hopefully it doesn’t bring any of us bad luck! On that side of the cove we watched the monstrous waves, and the best part, the WHALES! All the girls squealed with excitement! Before our guy came back we all went swimming in the Lover’s side, and then said goodbye to the blue water. On the bright side, our Cabo adventure wasn’t over. We taxied to the beach bars and did lunch at The Office (again!). I guess I did a good job of convincing all the girls they needed a pineapple pina colada drink ;) After a huge lunch of fish tacos and ceviche, we went to the Mango Deck next door, ordered another bucket of Dos Equis for the beach, watched the push up and “twirk” contests (don’t ask) and then walked back for some more fun in the sun at the Riu.

I love my other Cheryl so much. 10297679_10207292521925868_6710877656270614228_n

Our last night was spent on our friends’, Nick and Cheryl’s, rooftop. The happy couple were celebrating their 10-year wedding anniversary (in which we were all in part there celebrating too!), so they had upgraded to the beach-front, penthouse suite. And boy did we all get in on their roof-top view and jacuzzi fun! Always the hostesses with the mostesses, with the music playlists and aloe vera and snacks! Such a blast these two are. The pictures below of my friend Cheryl, with Nick toasting, warm my heart. We were all tearing up. They are truly the most amazing and loving people, individually and together. Rob and I really look up to them, as parents and as just good people. Spending that week with them is something we’ll never forget. All the couples though that went to celebrate their anniversary were enjoyable to be around. All very easy going and fun. The ladies particularly for me! I love new conversation with new people, and felt like we talked about everything under the sun all those days together. So many memories and laughs to remember. I’m pretty much convinced that Cabo might be our new vacation spot from here on out. It was such an easy getaway and the price was ridiculously right. I’d be excited to try a different area or part of the coast though, something even a tad fancier ;) And I would have liked to have done more shopping. Somehow Rob was the keeper of the pesos, so I didn’t get my shop on at all it felt like, which is not like me! I’ll be keeping my own pile of pesos next time for sure! We look forward to more meet-up trips together, maybe next time with the kiddos. Or not. Ha.
