Chardonnay II

The Joy family came to the Cruz this past weekend, and I had a special excursion planned for us: Chardonnay II. Going back through the pictures warmed my heart. It was the best day. We had so much fun. The weather was perfect. I booked the sunset cruise for us, with drinks and appetizers. The Chardonnay crew was great. As soon as the sails went up and the tunes started, we were up for a relaxing cruise around the Santa Cruz harbor. I know I already said it, but it really was the best day. We couldn’t stop smiling and laughing at each other. I’m so glad we could all be in California together and do something out on the water. Thank you, Chardonnay!

Family, Santa Cruz

Family time

We had more family in the Cruz! Something about this California weather brings the guests, and we were so happy to have them. I didn’t get my camera out nearly enough, but I did bring it out for the Santa Cruz Arboretum, one of our favorite places. After, we toured the UCSC campus, and spent the rest of the day on the beach. Can’t believe my sister- and brother-in-law are so grown-up. When I first met them they were little people — now they’re young adults!

We came across a fence that looked like the fence in Jurassic Park, so my father-in-law thought we should all act like dinosaurs were chasing us. We look pretty scared, don’t we? Well, maybe Randy.

Even Grandma Margie came!! It made my world to have my Grandma here in Santa Cruz. Grandma on vacation is a lot of fun! I also got to spend a lot of time with my step/mother-in-law, who is one of the kindest women I know. Oddly enough, I didn’t get ANY pictures of her! Sad.

Weekend with dad

Daddy Joy came into Santa Cruz last weekend, and we had the best time. I hadn’t seen my Dad since Christmas, so I was counting down the days until he was here and we could hang and celebrate his birthday. My Dad LOVES attention on his birthday so we went all out.

{9 holes of golf in Corralitos – easy peezy!}

{steak & potatoes for his birthday dinner, with cake for dessert. We’re such Michigan folk.}

{shopping at the Boardwalk}

{lastly – 18 holes at Seascape Golf Course. I’m married to a walking advertisement for Coors Light.}

It was sad to say goodbye. I’m still getting over it. And, I’m pretty sure he wasn’t all that thrilled to go back to the 100+ degree weather in Phoenix right now. Dad, you’re welcome anytime you want to escape the heat! ;) Thanks for hanging with us. I love you.

Spring in Sonoma

As soon as Momma Joy got in, we zipped up to Sonoma to get her birthday celebration started. I found a cute inn for us to stay at in Geyersville. The downtown was on the same street, so we made our way down for some local wine. Every restaurant was packed, so we took the last two seats at the candle-lit bar at Diavola and caught up from the last few months over hot pizza. The next morning brought a little mist, and then sunshine. Our first winery was Stryker. The entrance alone made our hearts {and nostrils} dance over the aroma of the beautiful blooms lining the walkway.
