September is here {yay}

I love September. And not because it’s my birthday month {he.he.}, but because we have a lot planned. Half Moon Bay, parents in town, Sonoma, pet-sitting, save-the-date invitation crafting and catching up on gifties to send out to friends & fam {I’m long over due on things!}. Plus, Fall is around the corner {and pumpkin pie…}.

The weather is supposed to be perfect this month, too and I’m excited to soak it up in my free time. Work is really busy for us both, as is life with dogs to keep entertained and exercised. I also want to check out the Santa Cruz library and see if it can compete with my old library in Arizona.

Here are some random shots for you, from our neck of the woods:

What do you love about September? … :)

Summer on the central coast

This time of year I’m used to 115 degree weather, a blazing hot vehicle and sweaty desert nights. But living in central Cal is like living in a totally different world. We’re lucky if it gets above 75 degrees in the middle of the day. I still have Arizona blood so I’m chilly up until I fall asleep at night. This is a feeling I’ve never experienced before so I’m going to live it up. I’m going to drink hot coffee in the middle of summer, wear cozy hoodies for as long as I like and blast the heater in the truck.

When it’s not cloudy here in Fogtos {Aptos}, I try to snap some pictures of all the pretty summer blooms around our yard.

In other news, I took a new job with a design agency in San Juan Bautista…. and I’m LOVING it. Not only are the people nice, but the office is bright and girly. I hear that more dead people reside in San Juan Bautista than living people {although I have yet to see a cemetery} – but who I think rules the little town are the chickens and roosters. I love hearing the rooster every morning in the office and think they have such pretty coloring! Look at this cutie:

   {I will own some one day}

Lots of white picket fences and lots of antique shops in San Juan B – including my new favorite – Aggie’s Porch (like my Grandma):

After a productive and breezy day in sunny San Juan Bautista, I head home. I turn on Pistol Annies, put my sunglasses on and gaze over the rolling fields of strawberries and open hillside.

Hope you’ve all been enjoying your summer and are keeping cool!  XOXO

Owl you need is love

Life lately has been pretty blissful. Lots of dinners at home, beach days, walks with the dogs, lazy evenings on the patio and long conversations. These moments with Rob remind me how thankful I am for our marriage. I saw this picture somewhere on the net and thought it was the cutest thing. How precious are these two owls?!
This move has been nerve-racking but very thrilling at the same time. I’m so happy I have Rob to lean on and explore with. Everything out here is still very new and we’re flying by the seats of our pants half the time. This article suggests that to stay married longer, you should move with your partner – and I totally agree. This move has made us closer than I ever thought possible, even when our stress levels are through the roof. Our friendship is exciting and anew. He really is the best part of my day. I think Kristin can attest to how much one can love another – so much that you want to squish their face! ;) Thanks for letting me share my sappy feelings with you. Have you ever loved someone so much you can’t breath?
This is my favorite song right now – enjoy!

Moths

I feel so let on. Around our little cottage these past few weeks I’ve seen a lot of caterpillars. Then came the cocoons. I was anticipating a swarm of beautiful butterflies to burst out of the shells and grace us with their presence. Unfortunately, the only insects we got out of those cocoons were MOTHS.

You probably can’t see them in these pics {guess they don’t like their picture taken}, but they’re everywhere. The minute you walk out, they’re fluttering around you – or I should say ‘swarming’.

The dogs are quite entertained – chasing the moths, watching them with dreamy eyes. Us? We think they’re ugly and obnoxious. We hate them even more when they sneak into the house and hang out.

However, here is one take on moths via Urban Grace Interiors that I thought was interesting – especially when it comes to art! I guess some are pretty.

Do you have any summer annoyances?

Motivation

Some nights I don’t feel like doing anything. If I sit on the couch with my laptop and put Smash on, it’s all over. To help me get back in the gym of things, I’ve been gushing over some lovely ladies.

I also like to look at my motivation Pinterest board. What do you do to get your butt in gear??
