Baby Moon in Palm Springs + a VIDEO

IMG_3022 We just got back from a much needed baby moon, or should I say, Jace moon ;)  Our last getaway, just the three of us. I wanted to go somewhere within driving distance and have had my eye on Palm Springs for quite some time now. We’ve always driven by the exits but have never been, so I thought it was a great roadtrip option. The Saguaro hotel consistently fills up my Instagram feed, so I was beyond convinced to give it a try. A little colorful for Rob’s taste, but still fun all the same. And their spa offered prenatal massages;) Once we got there, the pool was bumping with a DJ, but that didn’t scare us. Mr. Jace got his dance moves on and loved the attention from all the pool-goers. My favorite thing by the pool was the watermelon lemonade and the cheese quesadillas made to order — so fresh and cheesy! Our room was super comfy, with soft beds and lots of pillows. We had a great view of the pool, too. And we loved how many fun games and comfy seating they had scattered throughout, including ping pong, corn hole and bocci ball. It was just what we needed .. lots of pool time, snuggles in bed and food to eat!

February’s Gift for a Friend: A heart attack

IMG_2938I got my February gift out for a friend just in time for her Valentine’s Day weekend with her honey! I saw this thing online where you give someone a “heart attack” either with cookies or chocolate, but in my case, I just rolled my gifts into the theme. And I’m also a HUGE fan of Bookshop Santa Cruz’s Blind Dates with a book, so I copied that, too, and found her a love story that I think she’d really like (and maybe if she loves it, I’ll borrow it and read it, too!).  And I never realized how mouse-like my voice sounds, so please try to ignore it! It’s so annoying! Hopefully this inspires you to do something special next year around this time for someone you care about!

January’s Gift for a Friend: Favorite Things

This month I had a little post Christmas gift exchange planned with some of my friends and the theme was Favorite Things for around $20. I’m sure you’ve heard of these parties, where you buy one of your favorite things, and then either do a white elephant or secret santa gift exchange. In my case, we did white elephant, so that means whatever gift you get or steal, it’s one that is near and dear to one of your closest friends. And if they love something, you’re bound to love it just as much or find use for it. Here’s what my favorite thing(s) consisted of, video style! And as you can tell, I couldn’t just pick one thing, it’s sort of a package deal, ha. This gift idea also makes for a great gift for any mom or lady friend that you have that might have a lot going on and just needs to relax. It’s the perfect “relax in a bag” as I like to call it.

Maybe I’ll keep this vlog thing going for every monthly giftie I do. I promise to get more creative with the next one ;)  I was literally trying to get out the door.  After our gift exchange I walked away with quite the domestic bag of favorites: hangers, glass tupperware, cleaning gloves and a frame. Very interesting, but I’m sure I’ll find use for everything.

The Polar Express + a VIDEO

This past weekend we got away from the hustle and bustle of Phoenix and went up to Flagstaff, mainly to get up to The Polar Express in Williams (part of the Grand Canyon Railway). And what a magical weekend it was. Just as I had hoped. On getting there a day early, we hit up a couple breweries, including Mother Road (it helps that I’m a bonafide DD for Roberto), played in the snow up at Snow Bowl, boarded the train late Sunday night and finished the weekend at Rock Springs Cafe for some apple crumble and coconut cream pie. Which btw, everytime I go to Rock Springs it makes me want to run home and watch Waitress (it’s one of my favorites:)).  I can’t express enough how AMAZING The Polar Express was! Even though it was like we were stepping into Christmas on crack, it was just what we needed to kick off the holiday season. There was no way we were leaving without the Christmas cheer ingrained in us that night. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Jace’s face more happy. I think I will remember his smiles and giggles and singing for the rest of my life. It was fun cozying up in jackets and beanies for once, and just relaxing at the hotel we stayed at. We even took a nap and watched It’s A Wonderful Life (Rob’s favorite Christmas movie of all time). Hope you all get to do something festive like this in your parts!

A little video of our house

Oh hey ya’ll! Thought it was time I post a video of our new home! We’ve really been enjoying every minute of it. Even the yard work (which is all we seem to do these days). After putting together some random footage from our first few days in the house to some of the moments over the summer, I realized that we spend about 90% of our time in our back yard, ha! This video is basically what we did all summer long – water gun fights, basketball and the pool! I didn’t capture much of anything else (sorry!). I think our back yard is truly our favorite part of our house .. Jace and Tacoma LOVE it! And can you tell how much I love my coral back door? ;) It’s the perfect accent to our favorite space. Hope you enjoy!
