Family, Holidays

Christmas!

This Christmas, I decided to take a bunch of video so we could really capture the excitement and moments from the day. This Christmas sure did come fast, we didn’t even get to all of our “12 dates of Christmas” … all of a sudden it was Dec. 24th and we were furiously wrapping gifts! But, wow, what an awesome Christmas, even for how exhausting it might have seemed. We got in a ton of family time and laughs, lots of dancing and kissing and eating .. just your average family holiday get together.

I think one of the best parts of our Christmas holiday was playing with Jace and his toys. Since I’ve been an adult now for what feels like forever, I forgot how fun toys are!! So please pardon my little toy recap here, but I was as into the toy playing as mr. Jace was. His favorite gifts included anything Thomas the Train related. Rob got him a little Thomas the Train whistle, Grandpa Randy got him a battery-operated one, and a friend got him a little train track set, and me a little tent for him to play in. And just a sidetone, thank you, Netflix, for having Thomas the Train .. it’s seriously the best show and Jace adamantly requests to watch it now, while he plays with his trains. He goes around saying, “MY choo choo (yes, everything that is “his”, he proudly disclaims as “MINE” in the cutest little boy voice). He also loved this glow-in-the-dark, battery-operated car track my Mom got him. The track is plastic and folds up nicely into a bag, so you can take it anywhere. And the cars are fast! Lastly .. Great Grandma Margie got Jace a teepee for his room. And I tell you, Jace has never been more animated about life until he saw this thing. It was definitely a bad idea to set it up right after bath time, because after rolling around in this thing, running around it, diving into the pillows, reading books, playing with the flashlight and watching the glowing lights on the ceiling, this boy didn’t want to go to bed. Good thing he woke up and it was right there for him to experience all over again. Such fun. Rob and I felt like kids again, unwrapping the toy boxes and getting everything out, playing trains and cars, bouncing new balls, dancing to Snoopy, etc. We completely forgot about our own gifts and just hunkered down on the floor to play with Jace. It was so freaking awesome. But then again, I think Jace brought out the child in everyone this Christmas. We looked around and our families were just as consumed in the toys as we were, ha. We’re truly so blessed to have such loving families.

P.S. We also used this holiday to start Star Wars! I feel like we’re the last humans on earth who haven’t seen it. So, we started with episodes 4,5 and 6 .. then I sort of want to skip 1-3 and just watch the new one! I hear it’s AH-mazing. Are you a Star Wars fan? I think I’m hooked for life! And how cute is chewbacca?! I might need to get this backpack for Jace. Or maybe for myself ;)

Hope you all had as playful a holiday as us ..  XOXO

James Bay

I’m definitely one of those people who obsess. I find something I like and I don’t leave it alone. Hence my relationship with Robby. I saw him. I liked him. I stalked him. The rest. Any way, I heard “Hold Back the River” by James Bay in a Purre Barre class and immediately had to download the song after. I even sing it to Jace at bedtime. Then I Googled him to find out his age, home town, love life, blah blah. Then I listened to his album on Spotify. Then I bought it. Then I searched his Tour dates. Then I booked 3 tickets for November. Ha. Then I started watching his You Tube channel and searching for acoustic videos. This is sort of how I get with new music (and any celebrity crush that I have at the time, but I won’t even go there). I can’t wait to see him live!!

The Jace Roar

Thought this was too cute not to share. We call it the “Jace roar”. He roared liked this all day long at the San Diego Zoo. Even at the giraffes. Hahaha. I sure love my little lion bear cub!

San Diego Fun + a Video!

thumb_IMG_6485_1024Heeeello! Did you think I disappeared? Nope, still here. Just busy running after my little boy and my career, ha. Life lately feels like it’s spinning around and around, non-stop. Our first summer back in Arizona has officially come to an end.  I can finally say goodbye to the 100-degree weather, and hello to the 90-degree weather (hey, I’ll take it.). I can’t believe we’re already into September .. which means I’m turning a year older, too. Boo to that. This summer was full of busy weekends — some with visitors or family, staycations and others were spent back in California! As you know we went back to Santa Cruz over the 4th to see friends, and mid August we went to another favorite place of ours, San Diego! Sister bought me tickets to Shania Twain’s farewell tour, so we decided to make a whole weekend getaway out of it and dragged Rob and Jace along for the ride. We stayed in Little Italy at the Porto Vista Hotel (AAA Approved!) .. a fabulous hotel with a great view of the bay. We were literally a block away from Little Italy (heaven!!). During the day we played at the San Diego Zoo and dug in the sand at the beach, even swam in the ocean. At night we ate Italian and seafood and jumped on our beds. Shania was incredible .. as could be expected! My sister got us great seats, she was so close at one point I thought she was going to look at me. But then she didn’t lol. It was so fun to be around a bunch of women from my generation and older. No tweens or drama queens. Just a bunch of good ‘ol country pop fans! My kind of scene! Below are some of the pictures I took on my phone, plus a little video (above). Coronado Island is definitely one of my happy places; it’s my favorite beach in California.  So glad we got to take Jace to one of our favorite places. Other highlights from the trip include Jace, hitting everyone (see video); dinner at Ironside; Zoo Brew; Jace’s running stride (it’s hilarious how he moves his arms); and last but not least, dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant on Coronado – Miguel’s – before we made the drive back to AZ!

4th of July in Santa Cruz + a video

I finally compiled all of the video footage from our trip to Santa Cruz for the 4th of July. It was so wonderful going back to our old stomping grounds and seeing all of our friends. New babies, new stories and new experiences for little man. He was so excited to see the beach, it was adorable. He didn’t want to leave that ocean. What I didn’t include in the video was him crying when we took him out of the water, hahahaha. I sure do miss those trees and the smell of the ocean. Miss it so much it hurts. And of course the people. They’re the best part. Love you girls (and guys!) so much. It was truly one of the best 4th of Julys ever.
