Activities for Kids, Jace

Our little gardener

IMG_6033Grandpa Johannes watched Jace for us a couple weeks back and took him out in the back to do some gardening. Not sure where his pants went, but seeing how hot and humid it’s been around here, I’d want to take my pants off, too. Jace in that little wicker hat is too much. Just one more reason why I want to squeeze him every time I see him. This kid loves to be outside.  Thanks Grandpa for giving Jace a little project!

Cher Joy

Cher Joy

Well hi there. Long time no talk (on my part!). I’ve been a little caught up with living life I guess. I can’t believe it’s already mid July. 2015 is well over half done. Crazy. We’ve been living back here for what, 5 months now. Still feels bizarre to me. Like I’m in a third dimension. Can someone please wake me up? I’m really doing my part to make the best of this Arizona summer. I’d dare say I even have my Arizona tan back almost. Lots of pool days and cool drinks. My favorite moment is stepping into my air conditioned house (that I pay a lot to air condition mind you). Feeling the rush of coolness hit my sweaty skin. It’s marvelous. Or, I’ll sit in my car in the parking structure and just put my face up to the air conditioning.  It’s what you do in Arizona this time of year. You appreciate all the air conditioning you can get. I’m praying for some monsoon rain to hit already so I can cool down naturally. Bring the rain Arizona, pleeeease!

In lieu of my absence, I thought I’d jump right back in with what brought me joy last week. A little recap of those moments I hold on to for dear life. In order of the photos below:

1. Running at the track. Brings back lots of late night, date night memories of the early days with Rob. Where we’d run the track, play p-i-m-p (our version of p-i-g) and then go get a cold Gatorade from QT.

2. The pork enchiladas at Gadzooks. Seriously amazing. Plus the slaw. It’s my new found food obsession. And I sort of have a “thing” for enchiladas. A serious love affair. Even ask Heather.

3. Fridays!! Picking up Jace on Fridays is my favorite day of the week. obviously! I play Shots, and we dance (at stop lights of course) and get sillier the closer we get to home.

4. This acai bowl at Thrive. I go for the tropical one, every time. Best thing to eat after a work out.

5. Lazy weekends with my boys, eating cheesy eggs and cuddling on the couch to some Sesame Street.

Jace

Jace ate asparagus!

IMG_5896It’s been quite the challenge for us to get Jace face to eat vegetables. We’ve tried mixing broccoli with his mac & cheese, cooked carrots as a side, green bean casserole .. Lately we’ve been making smoothies with kale, just so he gets some greens. Recently, we were feasting on our favorite salmon dinner, with an avocado side salad and seasoned asparagus. For a laugh, we gave Jace a stick and to our surprise he chomped through the whole thing. Then he grabbed another. And another. And another. He even smiled at one point! I thought at first, it must feel nice on his 4th tooth coming in on the bottom, or maybe it’s because of the lemon juice on it. All I know is he couldn’t stop eating it. He ate almost as much as I did! And boy, did his diaper smell the next morning! hahahahahaha Heck, it was worth it! Good eating little boy!

Gilbert, Gold Canyon

Top Golf, then more golf.

IMG_5819In case you haven’t picked up on this, this past Father’s Day/birthday weekend was ridiculously busy. We did way too much. I don’t even remember sleeping. Thankfully we got to spend some good quality time with our dads. We treated my Dad to Top Golf, pretty much the most exciting thing to do around here, and Rob’s Dad to Jurassic World (no photos, sadly). It was my parents first time to Top Golf and they’re already hooked. It’s like a video game, but better.

IMG_5815 IMG_5816 IMG_5817 IMG_5831 IMG_5837Then on Father’s Day morning, I took Rob out for 18 holes at Gold Canyon Golf Resort. In the desert. I did book us an early enough tee time so that we wouldn’t completely melt. By the 15th hole though I thought I was going to collapse from the heat, ha. I got so much golf and swings in that weekend, my whole back is sore!

Giving Joy, Rob

The Daddy in our house + Father’s Day Gift Guide

IMG_5807I had so much fun shopping for Father’s Day (again) this year!! Rob is probably the easier person to buy for but that doesn’t stop me from trying to be creative! Here were my Father’s Day gift finds for Roberto this year:

“Daddy” Since 2014 T-Shirt — before Jace was even a concept, Rob has always called himself “Daddy”. Daddy’s hungry. Daddy like-y. Daddy wants a beer. Get the picture. So when I saw this shirt in Etsy land, I had to get it. Plus, it ships ridiculously fast and the quality is great.

Photo Mug — I’m pretty sure this is going to be an every year kind of a thing. We love relaxing in the morning with a cup of jo and drink a lot of it. This year I used Snapfish to customize a photo mug with pictures from Jace’s 1st birthday. It was perfect.

Beef Jerky & Whiskey Nuts — Need I say more? Cost Plus World Market. Delicious.

18 Holes of Golf — if you don’t golf, at least book a tee time for your man and send him away! Fortunately, I love to play golf so I tagged along and picked a course out aways from the cement city we live in.

After the gift session we ate mini waffles with Jace and watched as he proceeded to put syrup in his hair. It was the best morning with the Daddy in our house. Pretty sure Rob was on cloud nine. All. weekend. long. Ha. Plus, Jace learned how to cheers! this past weekend, too. So cute.
