Coffee date in Rio Del Mar

Saturday we woke up to birds chirping and felt the urge to go down to the beach. Rio Del Mar has a great path along the beach for long walks with coffee in hand – cute beach bars, cute beach houses and lots of drift wood {which is great since I’m collecting it for a project at home}. It’s definitely one of our favorite beaches. If you want to get out of a coffee shop or the house, take coffee somewhere local where you can walk and enjoy the beautiful outdoors! It’s so fun.

Cher Joy

Hola! I wish you all could see my view right now. It’s a beautiful morning in the Cruz. I am waiting for my Joy the Baker’s baked coffee cake french toast to bake, and sipping on some coffee. Bacon is cooking and I know it’s going to be a great Sunday. I love Sundays. Plus, I’m going to Face Time with my favorite Aunt in a little bit so I’m beyond joyful this a.m. How was your week in your neck of the woods? The short week felt a little long for me for some reason. I’m always thinking about work it seems like, but I love it. Rob brought home more beer than usual from work, so we are trying to hand it off to as many people as we can. Didn’t know the beer business was so giving! We have family coming in this week, so we’re looking forward to running around town and getting some golf swings in. Have a great week my followers – here’s what brought me joy last week:

1. Have I mentioned how much I love the Mexican Hot Chocolate espresso at Vertigo? Well, I love it.
2. Riding bikes with my man {not so much the hill we have to take back to our cottage}.
3. Catching up on my reading.
4. Guac party at the studio!!!!

Canon photo challenge

When I first bought my camera, I took a 30-day Canon Photo Challenge to help get familiar with it and all its settings. I forgot I did this until I ventured back into my Flickr account today and saw all the pictures I first took with my camera . . . {before I left it out all night in the pouring rain; before I scratched up the lens in Europe; and before I lost a few lens caps.} I’m in DIRE need of a new camera lens. So, what’s your favorite camera lens? Or, your “go-to” lens? Please share! I’m still thinking about getting the nifty fifty. Anyway – here were some of my favorite pictures from those first few months with my Canon:
Man. That Arizona sunset is to die for.
And while perusing my old Tumblr blog {which is so fun to look back at; I didn’t realize how much I day-dreamed about California}, I saw this.
EnJOY!

Our Valentine’s

For Valentine’s Day we decided to give each other the gift of wheels – new bikes! First, a romantic, greasy lunch at Betty’s Burgers, then on to the Family Cycling Center to browse bikes. I picked out the prettiest, peach-colored Schwinn {it had me at hello}, and Rob a Specialized cross-trail bike. After they tuned ’em up, we spent the rest of the afternoon riding bikes in the beach-house neighborhoods and down to Capitola. I felt like a little kid again. The weather this month has been marvelous. The air smells SO GOOD. I can’t even explain in. Actually, I know what it smells like! Childhood. And I love it. It was a great Valentine’s Day {love you Rob!}.

{can you see the heart in Rob’s arm?}
