I’m definitely one of those people who obsess. I find something I like and I don’t leave it alone. Hence my relationship with Robby. I saw him. I liked him. I stalked him. The rest. Any way, I heard “Hold Back the River” by James Bay in a Purre Barre class and immediately had to download the song after. I even sing it to Jace at bedtime. Then I Googled him to find out his age, home town, love life, blah blah. Then I listened to his album on Spotify. Then I bought it. Then I searched his Tour dates. Then I booked 3 tickets for November. Ha. Then I started watching his You Tube channel and searching for acoustic videos. This is sort of how I get with new music (and any celebrity crush that I have at the time, but I won’t even go there). I can’t wait to see him live!!
Happy Sunday friends. Ours is slowly coming to an end. Jace is already asleep and I’m trying to not dread the long week ahead. Today Jace and I went to the Sea Life aquarium in Tempe with our friends Sarah and James (and Anthony) … it’s really not that big of an aquarium, so thank God for the jungle gym after! And Jace made it out just in time before some little girl peed all over in it, hahahaha. In other news, Mr. Jace is our newest helper around the house. He throws his own diapers away, throws trash away, sweeps the floor, feeds the dogs, puts his dirty clothes in the hamper, stacks his books and even helps load the dishwasher (see above!). He is such a cool kid. Every day he wants to do something we do and usually does. I’m even starting to bring him in the kitchen more to help me mix and bake! Well, as you can probably guess, I’m here to share what brought me joy last week, and since Jace brings joy to my life basically every time I’m around him, I tried to get creative with the joyful moments I found in other parts of my every day:
1. A new planner from my boss. I just recently finished the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People and am now incredibly inspired to become more organized and proactive. I even wrote my very own mission statement. Perhaps I’ll share that sometime soon, once I finalize it.
2. Lunch at Federal Pizza with our ad agency.
3. Groceries. Food in my house is the best feeling!
4. Oh, and this new sweater I picked up at H&M today ..
For my birthday this year I decided to treat myself to Pure Barre! I started with the $10 Tuesday deal and then quickly fell in love. The music, the small movements, the pain. I’m officially hooked. I’m also incredibly in love with their clothing! Too bad I can’t afford any of it, ha. I’m 6 classes in and already seeing results. I took a before shot of my mid-section in case an after shot will be needed. Let’s see how I do after 30 days … Happy birthday to me!
We recently stayed at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge for my work banquet. The first night we took Jace and had a party in the room. Jace slept in between us all night, in the big fancy King size hotel bed. We woke up to a little boy staring at us and then giving us big kisses. Rob wanted to stay in bed a little longer, so Jace and I got up and I made us parfaits to enjoy on the balcony! It was so fun having Jace to myself! I say this only because the minute Rob is up, it’s Daddy and Jace time. And Mom (me) sort of floats to the background. So moments when I have Jace to myself are really special to me. It’s then I can have all of his attention! So, we ate our parfaits on the balcony while it still wasn’t too hot and sticky out and watched the activity down below. I also flipped through the latest issue of Highroads with my coffee .. I guess it was a relaxing morning for myself as well!
(By the way … our Cabo vacation is only 4 months away, so I was beyond thrilled to see the Other Side of Baja feature in the July/August issue of Highroads!)
I have one word for you. GADZOOKS!!!! If I haven’t said it enough, I’m going to say it again. I have a serious obsession with the enchilada. I L-O-V-E enchiladas. LOVE. Particularly home-cooked ones that involve slow-cooked pork or chicken. Or a lot of cheese and green chile sauce. Oh, my mouth is starting to water just thinking about it. A little missy from my work introduced me to Gadzooks by our office in Phoenix and I’ve been hooked ever since. Plus, they have misters and Dos Equis. I of course ordered the pork. And their home-made cornbread. It’s all so good; I can’t even handle it. And while you wait in line there is bound to be someone talking your ear off about their chopped salad or mashed potatoes or their hand-smashed guacamole, or basically anything on the menu. Here are some moments from this past Friday’s family dinner out after work! We ate our hearts out (and picked our noses apparently, ha!)
