Cher Joy

15 years!

I’m up early this morning, about to make some pancakes and coffee. My guys aren’t up yet. The house is sort of dark, the A/C is blastin’. Thought I’d share a little joy this morning. August is already done, and now we’re into one of my favorite months! This month I turn 33, and this month Rob and I celebrate 15 years together. 15 years. Holy crap. I’ve been wtih this man for 15 years of my life, almost half my life. That is so crazy to think about. But wow, what a good 15 years. So much to reflect on when I really think about it. Some of my favorite memories include: our wedding dayour dogs, our trip to Europe, moving to California, drinking wine in Sonoma, a wedding anniversary in Tahoe, my Big Sur-prise, SundaysChristmases together, Hawaii, buying our first house, and oh, yeah, having a baby and all the fun of raising a babe along the way! I could go on recapping all our times and years together, but don’t have stories or photos for everything. Just what I have here on this old blog. Which reminds me, having this blog makes me so dang thankful because I’ve really captured a lot over the years. and I really to need to get back to it. All the memories and pictures and random rabblings I’ve done really take me back. Everything being documented in a little way is so nice. It’s very different from a written journal. I can search and just get lost in looking at old pictures. But really, I’m so blessed to have spent the last 15 years with this man. We’re doing it. Living this life together, working through anything that comes our way and still planning for the future. I love you, Rob.

How We’re Staying Cool

Man has it been hot this summer. I can’t stress enough how unbearable it’s been. On the weekend I sip my coffee in my blow up pool on my back patio. Just to be outside because I can’t handle being inside all day. But fighting through it is definitely doable. How does one stay cool around here you ask?! Here are some ideas for any fellow Arizonans who want to get the kids out of the house (or even yourself!) but stay cool.

A day all to myself

e865b81eb73155638f586214c0f7a687

I actually have some time to sit down and write right now! So, hi! Today is Monday, and I took the day off for myself. I slept in ’til 7:30am, took my time getting up with Jace, made us breakfast, watched some Sesame Street.  Then, took Jace to day care. I came back and deep cleaned my bathrooms (which is seriously the most therapatuic exercise if you ask me), made myself a meaty sandwhich with some jalepeno kettle chips .. went and got my hair did, shopped for new earrings, and picked up my favorite from Bahama Bucks – the strawberry colada. I was going to do Pure Barre, then decided nah, it’s my day. No need to sweat. I’m about to paint my nails in silence and go pick up my baby boy. I still call him that. Although my hair outing was a little stressful (there were 5 women working on my hair at once!), I still had a pretty enjoyable day, treating myself to some play time of my own. All this day needs is some rose and I’d be set. Good thing the day’s not over ;)  Have you ever taken a day off work for yourself? If not, I highly recommend it. The secret is to not plan too much. Don’t use your day running around doing things you could do on the weekend. Take it for all its worth!

Summer nights

IMG_1453The colors we’ve been seeing at sunset these summer nights have been absolutely gorgeous lately. I give Arizona that. The way the sky cools down, bringing together the array of blues, purples, and peaches. I just want to roll these colors into couch pillows! How do I do that? We’ve been making a point to step out of our air conditioned house at around dusk to watch the sky and see the colors melt into the mountains around us. Sometimes we even go for a stroll around the block to watch the colors change while we chase the bunnies (it’s one of Jace’s favorite things to do ;))
